Yessir Seldom, right again. There is some problems with my signs. Finding some have to be modern, within the last hundred years. I mean look for yourself, I just found Poncho Villa on a rock:
I am finding that any theory you wish to apply works. Be it holes and Masonic Triangles, to just about any animal you can think of. The fact is, it is a more popular area than I believed it to be. One sign has seemed to inspired a few artist. I find these signs all over the mountains here in the SouthWest. I am just adding to the forum, but poncho on a rock is the last straw.
Any real sign there may be out there, if its accessible to man, is suspect as soon as you find it. Im no scholar, but enjoy my pictures, and have to put the Signs to bed. When you find a mark or sign, you will know it. Dont give up your day job. Looking is half the fun, but research will get you the finds.
Back to my original post, who put it there, and why? Unfortunately as recent as a 100 years ago, illiteracy and marrying your sister was accepted practices. Not the best for record keeping, and usually the winner writes the history books. Legends and stories are great around the campfire.
I believe in mason jars and pocket dumps. Finding a old trail is fun, and who knows, may lead to something. I will leave you with this. The Spanish hunted gold with a wooden stick, think about it? I dont think the Spanish found that much gold or silver, and the taxes were paid in Corn and Blankets. The stories of riches was overstated by the first explorers. The real motivations seem to be gold. It has ruined many a man.
