Go Up Go Down

Hi guys, I had a couple questions I was hoping some folks could chime in about their park experiences.

Since I have not had the time to make the drive over to the beach, I have been hitting some of the parks closer to home. I've mostly been covering the sanded playgrounds and getting clad and garbage; nothing new for any of you I'm sure.

But tonight I decided to drive to some of the older parks that I played in as a youngster and much to my dismay, I find the play areas with covered canopies and wood chips in the play area instead of sand and all new equipment. What's up with that?  Violent Is it even worth my time to hunt these wood chip areas?

Second, I did two sanded volleyball courts and came up with a rusted bobby pin, bottle cap, coke can and a piece of wire. Is that normal? I mean I did not even find clad.   Angry I thought sure I'd find some broken piece of gold jewelry; OK, I hoped I would find......

Only thing I got was some exercise which I'm sure we all need.   Crazy

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

National parks - you better ask. City parks it varies from state to state, city to city and so on. It never hurts to ask- better than getting run off or worse- arrested!!!!

I have been metal detecting parks and school grounds for over 30 years and have found lots of good stuff, but where I live things have changed. Most of the old parks, places where really good silver may be, are now in very dangerous parts of town, and I left detecting a few years back just for that reason. Being surrounded by a bunch of thugs bent on taking your detector, wallet, and car keys is not a fun thing. Sadly these types of occurances became more frequent and now that I am back detecting I don't visit those parts of town. Signs of the times I guess. I now primarily hit newer parks and school grounds (those that are not fenced and locked up like prisions), and still find some occasional good jewelry, but it is not like it was years ago.

Hello Zectron2348 . You just gave a very true description of how America has changed since  around 1975 or 1980 . Only a few Americans still believe it will return back to the way of the good ole days . Too many Guns and too many Drugs control this country right now , not the politicians . I am proud to be an American but not proud of the decline in moral values . If the economy recovers and becomes strong again , the bad neighborhoods will become good again . I think Big and Very Good changes are coming soon for all of us , not just in the U.S. but everywhere around the World  !! I am still very optimistic about the future .

HH......Regards........Eugene
