Had to laugh at the "almost ex" remark.  My first "legit" use for my new MD was finding the wife's wedding band after she threw it out the window (after an argument about spending too much time playing in the woods with the new Metal Detector!

Great story......Keep us informed as you climb the leaning curve of MD'ing. I agree that it is a very addictive hobby.

Cheers and wishing you happy hunting.

Mike

Go Up Go Down

Just got my first MD on monday and have only spent about two hours out in the yard so far, I found your story very helpfull though and will be doing some indoor testing on the kitchen table to learn the differant tones of my machine. I read in my manual to take a few coins and toss them out in the yard then just practice pinpointing with them.

Thanks for your saga.

My first detector was a Kitco, my dad and I put it together from a kit from Heathkit. I was only 11 years old then, dug lots of trash but I also found my first seated dime with it too! I was hooked and still am 40 years later.
