Go Up Go Down

G Day everyone, Well today it was playtime for big boys, I went to my local metal detecting shop, which happens
to be the the oldest and the biggest supplier in the UK,
I went their to buy an old machine but instead of buying the machine we spent 4 hrs playing with one of mine
and all of the top of the line machines.
My one matched the deepest and reguarded as the best one on the market and like most of us we wonder if
we have the right machine, is that new one better, well the ansewer is NO they are not better or deeper.
Back to back testing ?1200 machines against my list price ?699 machine,
But there is one thing i did notice is the finess of these machines is now the new added bonus that is built in to
these machines, On other forums i've seen people arguing over which machine is the deepest and if they would
have been in the same room there would have been blood spilt. Well you can all rest assured that there is
very little differance in the top of the range machines. So don't go and change your machines because you have
doubts, I WILL SAY IT AGAIN.  THERE IS NO DIFFERANCE,

NOW looking on the bright side I did find one Gem and it could do something that no other detector can do,
And that it will see a small low conductive coin no matter how much Iron is on it, or what angle the Iron was
at or how many Items were under the coil, IT'S NOT the deepest machine by far but it's abillity to find the
target under the worst conditions that me and my Mate have ever thought up is amazining.
and it is a must have item as far as i'm concerned and i'm gettin one for sure,
This little Gem is called the Gold Bug Pro, Now all the other machines costing $1800 and more could not
even come close. so if your site is full of junk and your not finding much the problem may lie some where
within my tests, One thing I'd like to point out that I had access to every machine out there.
I AM NOT TELLING YOU TO GET RID OF YOUR machines and get this, I'm telling you of a new concept
and tests that i would never thought possible

Good luck and have fun.

Trouble is we have to have the deepest machines, Well mine can hold their own with any other brand,
But in trash power is the last thing you need, you need accuracey, the same with a gun or GPS
It's not worth having all that firepower if you can't hit the target and the Gold Bug Pro will hit those
Targets.

After using the machine for a few hours in rusty junky iron and steel-laden field conditions, I'll vouch for Ridge Runner's appraisal of the GB Pro, and more. It overloaded several times, but backing off the gain a tad solved it. Overall, I'm very happy with the performance. Love the lightning-fast recovery speed!

A few very minor quibbles:
1) Sloppy finishing on the 5" coil, several places had excess sealant runoff.
2) Battery compartment cover could have a firmer closure, and I wish it had been hinged. I'm going to epoxy some 60lb test nylon to the inside of the battery cover and the battery compartment as well as affix a piece of sticky tape on the outside to prevent loss of the cover.
3) Wish that I could ground balance in discrim mode as well, instead of having to flip back to all metals mode first.
4) Shaft is a bit short for me even though fully extended. Another 3 or 5 inches longer and it'd be perfect. I may have to look for a 3rd-party shaft if the slightly hunched detecting position/ having the coil too near my feet proves to be uncomfortable.

Will test the machine in salty iron-ridden sand this weekend, and I expect it will perform well there too.

Yeah 15-20 disc level works for my purposes. The machine gb's on salty wet sand as well as 2' of sea. Would be nice to have a waterproof housing for it!

What about covers for it that will make it splash resistant, I could find you some good ones over here If you want??

It's very kind of you to offer but I'm good. I used a thick transparent plastic bag and some electrical tape, chucked in a sachet of silica gel for added measure. It works fine.  Smiley

Been cracking my noggin on how to cobble together some kind of housing that won't be afraid of splashes or submergence in 3 or 4 feet of water. Fisher or some savvy 3rd party accessory manufacturer should offer such an item. This fine machine should not be limited to the land!

It's like I said, Most detectors are like craftsmens tools, but that one is like that of which a Surgeon would use
In the way that can finess an area not charge at it like Bull at a Gate.
and although i have'nt got one yet, I soon will have when work picks up.
