This happened to me>>>

2 friends & I went to an old run down house to salvage some old books that were there before the weather got to them. After doing that, we were all randomly searching where ever we wanted in & around the property to find whatever we wanted to keep that interested us & take home. I find some hidden cash. Later, was told I should have split equally. This was AFTER giving them each $150.00

So that's your question>> your hunting with friends (everybody for themselves), YOU find some hidden cash.

Do you share OR not share?

A detector is a personal tool . You swing it and you should reep the benefits . You don't have to share with anybody . If you , while detecting dammage your detector will your budies pay you for a new one ?   You may pay for a diner  , but that's all .  Cornelius

The friend that I hunt with and I made a verbal agreement that if we find a sizable cache of coins we would split the take and give the the land owner some to. It doesn't hurt to share with someone who finds places to hunt and is always willing to help you when you have a need. John in Va.........

No, I wasn't Metal Detecting when I  found the "cache", I was "digging" through stuff. This house & the outbuildings are almost filled with deteriorating bags & boxes of "stuff" that had been accumulated I guess over the years and the house itself is falling down in parts. The family gave me permission to have at it because they're just letting "nature" reclaim everything. It was an old family members house that had passed away years ago and they didn't want anything to do with it except to own the land which here is worth almost nothing. I think the old feller was into "flea marketing or thrift storing" based on everything still there. I know also that the old feller "stashed" cash because of what I found and what else I believe is still there plus all the other kinds of goodies waiting to be found.

Anyone want to come help?
