Don't know if you'll be back to the thread, but now you've really changed the dynamic of the original question.  Now the question becomes, "What is the best detector for someone on a very limited budget".  Now you can have specific answers from a least me.  There are two Bounty Hunters I could recommend.  The Gold Digger sells for 89.00 dollars and the Tracker IV sells for 100.  They are both good machines for the bucks.  I've played with both and own the Tracker.  I Bought the Gold Digger for my grandson and its now in my trunk along with our fishing poles.  They are easy to use, fun, and inexpensive.
