Thanks! The E-trac should be here Wed.

Seldom I just read your posts about the island. Great wealth of knowledge. In the posts you reference a new magazine article you were planning to write. Did that happen? Would love to read it. Did the old dye vats on the west end make it through Ike?

Hey Smokin , I published several articles about Galveston in W&E Treasure starting in 1982 and have published many more in local publication's over the years. I am working on a couple now, but have decided to put them here and not publish in a treasure mag. The mag's pay very little for an article and more people get a chance to read it on the net. It's not about money or vanity for me if 1 or 1000 folks read it I am happy. Galveston Bay is full of treasure tails and I just want to get them out there for people to see and maybe help out a few folks.
Baytown is a good place to start your hunting, will see what info I have on it and post it in a day or two.

Thanks for all the welcomes!

I ordered a copy of The Treasures Of Galveston Bay last night. Just got email that it has shipped. I am excited about a couple of different spots. I have access to approx 5 acres about a 1/4 mile from Lynchburg Ferry that I am pretty sure has never been hunted. Unless they tresspassed at night to do it. It may have been worked over with heavy equip about 30 years ago though. I am not sure of the exact location of the original ferry operated by Mr Lynch.

Treasure of Galveston Bay is a good book for our area. The Galveston library has a map showing the original  ferry landing, lot has changed in the last 150 + years. I suggest a few hours at the library to look at old maps and newspapers might put you on to something good.

Looks like the lychburg land is to far out. After looking at maps and what would have made sense to do it looks like there would be no reason to wade and stomp to where it is.
