Cornelius, in the Sandbanks instructions they talk about making the detector more sensitive to gold , also the Response time. I take it that you have already made those modifications to the detector or do I have to ? The detector was having difficulty detecting some gold rings I have. Smiley

In the coil housing and around it there must be absolutely No Metal parts, is this correct ?
Also when you say ,"learn the settings" you mean by trail and error.

Ali.  No metal close to the coil. Settings are found by holding  Gold close to the coil and set the detector so that you hear a sound .  The settings are than for gold only ( and maybe silver .  For iron you find a different setting . Put  a dial under the knob and make some marks for the different settings .  Cornelius

The SandsBanks is a cool platform to build on.

There is a lot of things you can do to improve the little beast.

It's the most basic of PI machines and is Improvable, build able and You can manipulate it to do things!

You can pull in the timing to make it hotter! Wise

Hi Homfire

I take it that you would pull in the timing on the 555 IC1?
