We pay £1.45 per litre for diesel ,   about £1 is taxes which our government uses to buy weapons of mass destruction and fund illegal wars.

Well I was filling up 4 to 5 times a month, and now my insurance broker just doubled my insurance to £776.00 = $1261.54
per year because of uninsured drivers breaking the law I get to pick up the slack

So I just sold my truck last weekend because with £218.00 = $354,40 road tax and the insurance and add on to that $81.28c for
the road worthy test each year

so thats $1697.22c just so it can be on any road and thats not including the running costs ETC.
Nice here is'nt it

AU

Shocked That is HIGHWAY ROBBERY..... Cost ya a small fortune just to keep a vehicle on the road.Yup you guys have it made over there AU..... Wink

There's no such thing as free housing anywhere anyway.....someone is paying for it whether they want to or not.  The only way you can legitimately say that anything is free is to say that in the final analysis the state owns everything and allows the governed the illusion of ownership/control.

Good point BA. But the way I see it,The states and fed government does kinda own everything in the US.Don't pay your auto insurance, they'll take you off the road. Don't pay your property taxes, they'll throw you out.Everything that you buy you have to pay tax on it with no choice. Don't pay your income tax and your going to jail and get fined plus you still owe the original tax.And there are many more ways to get in dutch with the government I'm sure.
I know that every government has to be funded by the people and I have no problem of pulling my own weight, and paying my fair share of taxes to keep the country a rolling along. But man could they please cut a brother a break.........
OK thanks for letting me vent....I do feel a little better    Great

All I gotta say is today the price of a gallon of Gas her in South Texas, which has some of the cheapest gas in the country, was $3.79 at my local corner store. It was down from a high of $3.85 May 2 . That is a reduction of 1.6% in the price of local gas. The top price on May 2 of a barrel of crude was just over $114. Lets say it was $114 for mathematics purposes. Yesterday it traded at just under $96 and we shall say $96 for mathematics purposes also plus it gives the benefit of the doubt  to the pricing markets. That is a drop of 15.8%. What is 15.8% of $3.85? It is exactly 61.4c. That amount from the top price on May 2 is 3.85-61.4=3.236 or 3.23 rounded up.

In other words if our gasoline here in South Texas followed the price of a barrel of oil at this moment the price for that gallon of gas should be $3.23, but it is not. It dropped but only to $3.79,  14.2 % higher than it should be if tied to the Oil price.

Now some will say "Hey the price of gas does not follow the price of oil exactly. It will take time for the price to come down." and I am fine with that....IF THE PRICE OF GAS DID NOT SCYROCKET FOLLOWING THE PRICE OF A BARREL OF OIL WITHIN HOURS OF A PRICE INCREASE!! FOLKS, WE  ARE BEING GOUGED AND OUR GOV AIN'T DOING A THANG ABOUT IT !!!!
