I dont often post on here but enjoy the US-centric postings.
YOU GUYS STILL THINK YOU LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE ?Over here on the other side of the Pond we had Government types & Archaeologists and unelected turds in boil-in-the-bag suits trying the same trick with random finds.
They assumed that if it wasn't nailed down or if it was shiny, then it was theirs by right.
Now we have a thing called "PORTABLE ANTIQUITIES LEGISLATION" which actively promoted detector users to report stuff to local Museums/County Archaeologists and get a fair hearing about their finds.
If it turns out to be valuable or the County or even National Museum want a hoard or a stash or part of a hoard or stash then they have to pay a fair price for it to the finder/landowner ( who sould have the usual 50/50 split agreement signed between themselves.)
The fair price is set quarterly by an Inquest being held and experts from a wide range are on the "Jury" and their reasonings are published and available to all.
I am happy to post up on here links to this legislation which is only a coupla pages and might help if you guys over there who currently have bother getting some a****oles thinking put back in line.
Remember the Brits taught some of you all about knives and forks and things like that, and we reckon some of you still use 'em to this day, but when it comes to Authorities stealing stuff for personal enrichment then we will happily supply ammo and cover yer backs while you go a-huntin' justice for detector users all over.
--Finally I aint a Brit--I am Irish--just living here because of women & work & kids and all that stuff and I have it in my blood to disjoint some fancy-pants archaeologists who is an ingot or two short of a stash... if you follow my drift?
Come back!!
