GD, I joined up with the Central Searchers detecting club yesterday (they are on the net),,,, went on my first dig yesterday and found a piece of a spur and a front of a button from the 16th century. So far it seems like they could be a nice bunch of guys, but as with all detector people, they don't talk, just swing Great

I think I am going to do well here though...
When I was leaving for the hunt which is about 40 minutes from the house, my brothers neighbor was also clearing all the ice of his cars window.... my brother asked him if he was off to fishing and he said no, he was going detecting.... well he is part of the same group, so I got a trip from him Funny

he stays about 4 feet from our front door Cheesy

Ho Peter mate I think that lady luck is with you, can you just imagine that your neighbor a competitor, could be good for you mate. Made a new friend his name is Ray and his a lumber jack he is at the farm cutting down some trees that are being a menace to our buildings one being my cottage. He is a good guy and is quite knowledgeable but the great thing is that he gave me a few VERY good sites to go detecting MAN now I'm really eager to get the detector finished Cheesy

Oh and BTW, I tried out the Garrett Pro Pointer (my prize for the article), buddy it is amazing.... On the website you can see a gadget they sell so that you do not lose the pointer, well I got one and it works great Kiss

Man but you are a sucker for gadgets aren't you LOL I hope to be able to post some new finds in the next few days Ho OK then in the next ten days ( still have to make the coil you know) Byron my nephew is going for honors at his school in a few days so I'd like to get a detector going for him too as a well done gift (he's a great kid and deserves it) So tell me how deep dose your new pin-pointer detect?

the pin-pointer needs depth testing, but the signal is strong and changes to a solid sound when right on the object... the closer it get to the object, the solid the sound?
