Does anyone know anything at all about this vintage Garrett MD? I do know that it takes 5 9V batteries to run it [ I contacted the seller]. Has anyone ever used one and how easy are they to learn on. Any help and or knowledge would be greatly apprciated .

I have one just like that.

Heavy as Ell, Battery Muncher.  They Take 6 nine volt Batteries Not 5.

In all metal mode it's a getter.

Not a Nugget machine but for Relic and coins it kicks butt.

 Great

I used one for years good in salt water and wet sand heavy as he$$ some company sold a shoulder mount kit for it at the time. I bought one sure made life easier.

I'm not much for the Bells and Whistles.    All I ask is for a machine to Sing to me.

The new machines just go BEEP.

You don't hear the variations like the older machines can do for ya.

While you were hunting with it, did you find a lot of good stuff?

I'm thinking just under 4.5lb or so?   Depends on the coil too.

With the armrest, it's not so bad with a sniper or standard coil.  You put the OL 10" on there and my arm won't last more then a hour.

I guess my real question is- is it worth buying and useing or would it be totally cost ineffective to mess around with? Oh, one more question, if it's munching on all of those 9 V batteries, how much run time does it hold?

Hey guys,
I really do appreciate all of your comments and suggestions on this machine Smiley I'm just a newbie here, but I do want to learn as much as I can and make good choices in my new hobby. I plan of taking things slowly and I am learning a lot of stuff here reading ya'lls posts.
Mike
