scorpio,

bro if what you said was true used also empty drums of tire interior then put air inside just used air compresor,  but b4 that you have to clear the area from where the heavy drum is located. then slowly bring that heavy drum up ( wag mo biglain dahan dahan lang). nobody knows whats inside of that heavy drum but i'm sure something inside that drum that needs to be lift up... make it sure you will make some videos during your recovery for us to know whats inside of that drum  Cry

Just tie some lifting bags to it and cut the chain. Well, nobody can tell what's inside the drum until you open it. Let us know what you find inside. Thanks!

Maybe a booby trap.

When it reaches the surface of little pressure..... BOOM

How heavy is it?

well, the location of this drum is in the river, we can't really tell what's inside but according to my friend its a about atleast a 5 tonner chain block will drive to bring it up. we can't operate this right i'm still waiting for my friend from the states who will buy a detector for our operation. don't you worry about the video thing i'll sure that we have something to see during our retrieval. salamat sa lahat na suggestions and adviced. God bless! Smiley

Why, pray tell, do you need a detector if you already know where it is? I smell fish. Anyone else smell fish?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Sorry, Ive got a diabetic nose.... wood smoke smells like petunias, to me, for example. I have not smelled a fish in so long, it could smell like roses, for all I know. It is the sugar death of nerves. (Sweet way to die, eh?)

I did wonder about it, myself, and I keep getting the weird feeling a barrel of cement could have a body in it.  Shocked

A barrel of cement would only weigh 1000 to 1200 lbs. a good anchor.

Why do you need detector as the fellow said-you already know where it is located-ha!  Might be treasure? might be hidden body? Mihjt be something that definitely isn't worth finding out about-ha! But then again, ya never know?Huh? Lifting bags have worked to lift cannons and heavy objects of several tons from the sea floor-so that is an option. The winch or come along idea would work but you'd need a good sturdy base to work from like a good sized boat or a barge of some type. A drum of cement would sink a small to medium sized boat.

All relatively true... even with a lift you will need something to hoist it out of the water, or hold it, and move it  to where you can drag it out, like at a boat launch, if you have those, there.

Three old tractor inner tubes should lift 4500 lbs. I mean the BIG ones, 2 feet inside and about 4 feet outside (inflated). Secured with net, and inflated, around the drum, should work to bring it to the surface?Huh? Or is that too simple?
