Sorry, boys, but I just have to comment on this post of someone asking a gold buyer to bring CASH to purchase any so-called 'Yamashita's Gold' in the Philippines. All I can say is
DON'T DO IT!!!I spent several years in the Philippines talking to so many so-called 'gold sellers' and thousands of 'negotiators' and after all that time all I ended up with was;
a) Being robbed at gunpoint and relieved of all my CASH because at the time I was so stupid and nieve to believe and trust them and I brought CASH to the hotel of their choice, LEGEND HOTEL in Mandaluyoung.
b) Loss of a hell of a lot of money 'traveling' all over the Philippines talking to the many, many so-called 'gold sellers' and 'negotiators'.
c) Loss of a hell of a lot of money 'feeding' all the negotiators because whenever they decide to meet you it will of course be a some restaurant and they always expect you to feed them cause you're the 'RICH FOREIGNER' and so-called 'buyer'.
d) Loss of a hell of a lot of money giving 'mobilization' money to many so called 'negotiators' for their 'traveling expenses' for them to go and talk personally to the many so-called 'gold sellers' and other 'negotiators'. I can only imagine that most of the time when I gave them 'mobilization' money they just went home and fed their families with it and didn't even travel anywhere at all. Then they will call you in a couple of days saying they need more 'mobilization' money to check other leads for you.
I could go on and on but really see no point. What I can warn any foreigners who want to go to the Philippines to TRY to BUY so-called recovered 'Yamashita's Gold' is to
NEVER, EVER CARRY CASH MONEY AROUND because you will
DEFINITELY BE ROBBED or CHEATED! These people are very good at what they do. They have been doing this robbing and cheating business for MANY YEARS and don't think that you can outsmart them in their own country. Its their country and they rule there. They will come up with 1001 excuses why they are 'afraid' or 'scared' to bring any gold they want to sell to a safe place (like a major bank or whatever).
Actually, a couple years back I was even writing an entire book with warnings about buying 'Yamashita's Gold' in the Philippines. Unfortunately, I got side tracked and had put that on hold for now but if anyone wants to know more, don't hesitate to drop me a line.
Cheers,
Tony W.
