My DSL seems to be stable now, so here's a little bit more to chip in.

It seems that I am fated to bump into US air servicemen; most times in real life, sometimes online. Before 9/11 happened, military C-130s were overhauled and refurbished in Malaysia due to lower costs, and there are many retired airmen who do the visa run between the Philippines and my country. Anyways, the following is the gist of what one chap told me. He had no reason to lie, no motive for braggadocio and seemed sincere. From his words and tone, I sensed that he was also disgusted in the happenings he related to me.

He claimed to have been the copilot of the plane which flew the Marcoses to Hawaii during the People Power revolution. The seats and overhead compartments in the economy section were laden with bags of US currency, and the aisle was awash in 2 feet depth of USD bills, hastily thrown on board. Staffers tidied up the mess and bundled the notes after they took off.

If what was related to me is true, the Marcoses probably landed in Hawaii with way more than USD9 millions.

Well whoever told u that lied , have u ever seen the inside of a c130 ? ? there is no overhead baggage compartments!

There is no economy section , open belly with web seating, what ever and who ever told u that lied.

Karl and Au, I think there has been a misinterpretation. When I mentioned C-130s, it was with reference to the presence of US airmen over here (they ferried those huge transport planes back and forth), it was not a referral the the type of plane which the Marcoses hitched a ride on. I am familiar with the interior of the C-130. Smiley

It has been so many years since that conversation and I am hard-pressed to remember what kind of plane was mentioned, but it most definitely was a passenger plane (having an economy section and overhead baggage compartments).

"The Philippine government today is still paying interest in public debts incurred during Marcos' administration. It was reported that, when Marcos fled, U.S. Customs agents discovered 24 suitcases of gold bricks and diamond jewelry hidden in diaper bags and in addition, certificates for gold bullion valued in the billions of dollars were allegedly among the personal properties he, his family, his cronies and business partners surreptitiously took with them when the Reagan administration provided them safe passage to Hawaii. When the presidential mansion was seized, it was discovered that Imelda Marcos had over 2700 pairs of shoes in her closet. What's above came from the downfall section.

Finally, at 9:00 p.m., the Marcos family was transported by four Sikorsky HH-3E helicopters[40] to Clark Air Base in Angeles City, Pampanga, about 83 kilometers north of Manila, before boarding US Air Force C-130 planes bound for Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, and finally to Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii where Marcos arrived on February 26.[41][42] Marcos died in Honolulu on September 28, 1989

what's above came from the post presidency section,

So yes he left first by mil helicopter and then by a C130 !!
