Boy!   Nothing on that machine looks good for me either.

Being Right handed I detect Left handed all the time. Shocked

Right Side is my Digging Side!   LOL

Yea just gota remember what they do with the Left hand.

Some things are done with the Left hand that you really don't want to know about.

Religon wise they only wish to use the Right Hand.

There is a Reason for all this.

Been there Lived there Got the Scars and T shirt.

Hi homefire

I did not want to change the subject on this thread but I thought it relevant to show that there are left hand machines as well as right hand machines and both if the control's are in the centre which is not the case here and that any beginner should consider buying a machine that will suit him. Perhaps this subject should be moved to a new thread but as far as I'm concerned is relevant to krampits question on what detector to get. And yes it does have the appearance of a flight simulator's joy stick. LOL

All the best Xavier

You would think they want the detector in the left hand so they touch the gold with the right!

Using the left hand on that detector would be more then a challenge pushing and pulling the buttons on the Left side.

Well what Homefre said about having the detector in the left hand rather than the right because he is right handed makes a lot of sense to me. When ever I go detecting and I have a target I have to place the machine on the ground to liberate my right hand to dig. I will try with the left hand on Sunday and see what the out come will be (Probably will stick it in my lest eye) LOL I just want to say to krampits that the DBP2010 will detect up to five meters (Some claim to have gotten deeper) but I got about three meters in an air test with a 500mm x 500mm  coil (Target a Renault) LOL

Precisely my argument it was not made to be used with the left hand

I have never gone that far with the Jeotech.  The deepest I have gone is 24" for a small bag of coins.. not that valuable.

Hi gain.

Sorry for not answering, but i was out of town in a business trip.  Sad

So, this is what i understood reading the article that homefire gave me, and please correct me if i am wrong :
A Vlf machine performs better in discrimination, at least for gold, where a PI machine performs better in depth and by the water.  Undecided

If this is more or less the conclusion, i have to ask these questions , (I know i have to lower my expectations according to the article) :
How deep can i reach with a good Vlf machine with a good coil ?
Which Vlf machine, (from the machines you know), performs better in discrimination between metals, especially for gold, and in depth ?
Which Vlf machine do you propose and with what coil ?

What you have to remember is that there is no such thing as a gold detector (Well not yet) there are a lot of very good detectors out there VLF and PI but you must bear in mind that having to make a choice will be hard as both will have there own advantage the VLF will have the discrimination and the PI will have the depth but there are some VLF machines that can go quite deep. Now if I may make a suggestion, do a thorough research on your subject like where do you thing that it could be buried and the type of soil also how did the retain change over the years, was there a lot of other activities in that area like farming. Once you have done a good and thorough research then you will know what detector to buy or build.

All the best to you in your quest
Xavier
