Go Up Go Down

Please accept that these are my opinions and should you disagree I fully respect that.

Very nice day today,
Calm and warm, my daughter was sitting in our garden revising a science paper on ?chance and probability?.  When she came indoors she realised she had ?lost? her watch in the garden. We were about to go out with the detector and search for it when we thought that for a bit of amusement we would try ?LRL?ing? for the watch relating to her studies of ?chance and probability?.
The only thing we had to hand that was vaguely pointer shaped was a dozen bananas!
So, we tied a string round the middle of each and tied the other ends to the crossbeam of the garden ?swing?.
Then we waited for them to settle down and marked the directions in which each was pointing.
We reckoned there might be a possibility due to ?chance? that one or more would be pointing in approximately the right direction.
Out with the detector, watch found in about 5 minutes.
On checking the marked directions we found that one of our bananas had pointed vaguely in the right direction, in fact probably down to a 20ftx20ft area.

This is how LRL?s (I refuse to say work) are sold ?? on the back of pure chance.

Just think a little.

No ?Treasure Hunting LRL?s? I have investigated have any electronic circuitry that works, in any manner whatsoever, to locate anything at any distance.
(Please note I put ?treasure hunting? before someone replies ?oh yes you can, you can detect radiation from miles away, the government do it?Huh? err, NOT with a 555 timer and a few capacitors and diodes they don?t???)

I absolutely stand by this until someone can prove scientifically beyond any doubt that there is working, locating, circuitry in one of these things.

(I have offered to arrange testing at a national physics laboratory with, so far, no takers.
In fact, all Manufacturers/Sellers  run at top speed in the opposite direction when confronted with testing, or use their well trained command of language and ?sales pitch? to give reasons why testing would be ?Not Fair?.)

Mostly the circuitry is junk, maybe an oscillator in there, or something to flatten the batteries over a period of time to convince the unfortunate owner that it?s ?operating?

?What about the guys that have found stuff with them?? I hear you ask?. Consider this:
Our ?LRL? manufacturer sells, let?s say, 1000 units, one or two, maybe more, users find something with them, the reason they do, is, as above???. PURE CHANCE!

These guys are now our Manufacturer/Salesmen?s ?Testimonials?.
The rest of our owners, who find nothing, will be convinced by our LRL Salesmen that you are ?Not operating correctly? , ?Your ideomotor reflex needs training? , ?Your Karma is all bent out of shape? or whatever other ?Pseudo Science? claptrap they can think up.
LRL salesmen are SUPERB ?wordsmiths?. They can, and will, when confronted, twist every question out of shape until they convince you that you are wrong.
They know, like ?Magicians? and ?Casinos? exactly how to work ?chance? in their favour.
Let?s say you complain that your LRL that cost you $300 doesn?t work, they may very well send you a replacement.
They are now a ?good guy? in your estimation for replacing a ?faulty? unit.
Now, that unit probably only cost $20 or so in the first place to manufacture, so they are still making an enormous profit!
When your second unit doesn?t work either and you get back to them, you will get the usual ?ideomotor ??whatever ?garbage.
They KNOW that ?chance? will dictate that you will give up and put the unit on Ebay, or in the back of the cupboard to collect dust.
Here is a good analogy:
A national radio station has a ?Magician? on air that can ?Repair watches remotely? by telepathy or whatever garbage.
Our ?Magician? knows very well that chance dictates that a broken watch, can, (more often than you?d think) be restored to working order by being ?Shaken?.
He comes on air and tells you to ?Hold your watch tightly in your hand and shake it for 30 seconds,
Please phone in and tell us your results?
Out of an audience of maybe 50,000 there are going to be quite a few people with ?broken? watches in a drawer somewhere.
Let?s say 2000 of the audience try it, out of those maybe 50 or so watches will start working.
(heat from your  hand can temporarily restore a flat battery and supply the tiny current necessary, or you may not realise your watch is ?automatic? not battery powered, or in the case of a wind up watch, something may have just become slightly stuck within that delicate mechanism  - trust me , my father was a watchmaker)
Our ?magician? knows very well, that the first to ring in will be those gullible idiots whose watches are now working, and that a huge percentage who it didn?t work for, have thrown their watches back in the drawer  feeling slightly embarrassed for trying it in the first place! ? Chance and Probability!
Our ?Magician? now has ?The Power? in the eyes of those whose watches are now working, and a large percentage of the remaining audience who didn?t try, but are now convinced by the apparent flood of ?working watch? calls.
Same thing exactly with our friend the LRL salesman.
Because he can ?prove? via his ?testimonials? that his device is good??. It has to be!
I will likely as not get ?Flamed? for this, frankly, I don?t care.
If you are a user of one of these and it works for you?. Fine?.. ?chance? is on your side?...nothing else!
If you manufacture or sell these and cannot reply with a scientific (Not pseudo science) explanation with PROVABLE and REPEATABLE results, of the exact way these are supposed to operate?? please don?t bother.

My opinions:
If I have helped someone, somewhere, think a bit and save their hard earned cash? that?s great!
Still want an LRL? ? Buy Bananas???.. they are way cheaper  (and a tasty snack for  when you get bored)
And a big thanks to LRL Manufacturers and Salesmen?. My daughter now has a GREAT paper for her exam!

Thanks Paul A,
I'm no electronics expert, so it's good to hear from someone knowledgeable in the field that explains the technology or in this case, the non-technology, in terms us laymen can understand.

well done mate.
But I do like playing with sales people, have you noticed how they adjust to the customer so quickly,I mean thats fun
watching them adjusting to me because I can change my persona every five minutes when I'm talking to a
salesman. Try it, its great fun especially when you walk away without buying a thing.

I'm still waiting for my free unit, I mean I think they should be happy for me to pay postage and get it of their hands.
But your right Paul they know they are selling me a $50 board. I bought a board like that at $2 shop made in China,
and when I waived my hand over it, it made funny noises so I sold it as a detector for $2000, Yeh! Detecting

I once asked a Metal detector manufacturer for a free metal Detector, and he gave me one. I liked it so well,I became a dealer. Dell

well thats promising.Thanks Dell.
It is the probe that Im interested in because it can cover a wide area and pin point a promising area before you waste your time digging. thats what i want to try.
Still know reply from the maker except a lot of smart remarks from the salesperson.

Of course, I had already learned to use a metal detector and  had become rather successful with it, supporting myself totally with my finds. Perhaps the detector manufacturer may have seen some promotion value  in my using their products and felt it would be more to their benefit to have my photo published holding their product than a competitor's. Or, maybe they just took a liking to me, I can't say for sure.

What I am saying is that if you have something to offer that is of value to the manufacturer, or dealer, the better your chance of receiving freebies. Or, get acquainted with with the people you are soliciting, and show yourself to be special, and  sincere. No business person is going to cater to some one who is arrogant, or demanding of special treatment, unless they are already promotion  worthy.

Just a suggestion. Bend yourself a pair of L Rods, and learn to use, and interpret the reactions, and become proficient in their use first, and then approach an LRL manufacturer for a trial product.

Or, as my predecessors have so graciously pointed out, they can build you one for just a few dollars, but you still have to first master the use of the Rods, or your money  on the electronics, is wasted.

Practice, and field experience counts. But, either way, if you are serious about it, it can be both an  interesting challenge, and a great learning experience.   Dell
