Rest assured Bittburg Aggie, if and when I do further explorations on that spot, I shall post the results up here be they positive or negative. Putting aside the odd bit of sparkly minerals in the sand, the main impetus for further exploration there are the rocks: they look very much like oxidized kimberlite to me, and yes not all kimberlite pipes do contain diamonds. I'm off to the yacht club to try and roust up some current charts!

Most threads go off topic  can't be helped its the nature of the beast. But we usually get back on topic and  find the answer to 95% of the questions posted even if it takes weeks sometimes.
The ocean is full of gold its just not profitable to mine it with today's technology so maybe its full of diamonds also who knows. Mankind knows little about life and resources in the oceans of our world. Would be funny if one day they find a hole 5000 ft or so down full of diamonds as big as hen eggs?

So when Seldom tells you they're not diamonds, that's fine by you. When anyone else does, they're off topic. You make no sense. At all.

You do not want to keep this up, mate. Trust me on that one.

I never gave any indication Seldom's opinion of whether they were diamonds or not was fine by me. Your efforts to nitpick are futile.

I fully understand, Seldom. And it was because of your post #4 that I thought to obtain the current charts for that sector of water. I'd be happy to find a single peridot, frankly speaking. There is a rock structure that's about 30m offshore from that patch of black sand that is like a donut, and is mainly below the surface at low tide.  The rocks ringing the 'hole" of the donut are consistently splayed outwards at approx 20-30 degrees , which make me think with reasonable confidence that it is yet another undersea volcano. Sometimes I really wish I had a geologist in my team.

Mate, I'm the one calling you the nitpicker. If you can't keep your own arguments straight, get a new scorecard. The discussion went where it went. You do not control it. By now, you should have figured that out. Too bad for you that you didn't.

Anywhere else on the Internet, you'd be considered a troll. Come to think of it, you are considered one here.

Guys, I think this topic really got off-topic - in a unpleasent way.

I think it is not up to an amdinistrator or moderator to judge if an answer is relevant.

In my personal oppinion Hobbyist has allways writen postinsg well worth reading.

Anyway: Everbody should be given teh right and liberty to share his views and oppinions with others here.

WE as MODERATORS should always retain a friendly and helpfull attitude towards any member.

Thank you,

Christian

Thank you for the kind words, Christian. Putting aside this mess, I will definitely re-visit this volcano site in the near future, and as stated to Bittburg Aggie, I shall post up any findings (or lack thereof). The rocks of this site, which I now designate as VS2 have sharp edges and are splayed in a uniform direction, possibly indicating a violent occurrence in the past. Such violence may also explain why some of the shiny bits in the sand were cleaved.

This is in sharp contrast to my former posting (

) of a mudstone volcano which I'll call VS1. The rocks there are more rounded and lumpy with no uniform "flow" path. I've kitted up with the necessary rock climbing gear and shall tackle VS1 first.

I'm so happy you now understand those were not diamonds.

There was never any certainty on my part, or anyone else's as to what those sparkly bits were in the first place.

Except that you took on two moderators for saying they probably weren't and for us defending someone else who did. Now that YOU say it, it's all fine. Thanks for the update.
