Well I have done it that way for drilling Hi grade harded concret so it should do the job,
That Makita Drill has a clutch so if the core jams it will not snap your wrist, it has a D shaped
rear handle and a screw in side handle so you will not hurt your self, ok and you do not
us it in the hammer mode with Diamond core bits just use it in the normal mode and it
will eat up the rock, the core bit comes with a centre pilot bit so but a couple of the just in case.
Once I have the core bit chewing into the rock i take out the pilot bit so it does'nt snap off because
if it does that hole cant be drilled, you only need the cup or teeth to be 1/2" / 13mm in the rock and
then remove the pilot bit it the rock is not too hard then leave it in and all will be good, OK
AU
good luck

OH YES, and if you want you can run the drill without water as they are surpose to be used that way too
so the water is only an option
