I really dont think the indians really care. I do know some park rangers got rich from robbing people of thier finds and selling them. It on a post here somewhere. I do believe the post are watched, and there is a lot of bored mean peole who get off making trouble. In Ohio, no one really cared if you shot a deer out of season, or gatherd arrowheads after last years crops were plowed under. But here in New Mexico they are pretty strick about it. If its posted, I steer clear of it, there are many places to treasure hunt somewhere else.

Hi......yeah I know this topic is a little older but I just wanted to find some info.  Not sure if it is better to start a new topic or add on to an existing one?

Anyhow, does anyone know what the regulations are in Canada?  I have seen items posted on other forums to do with the fur trade.  But how do you know who owned the item?  Who is to say an English guy didn't trade a native for the item then lost it?  You cannot just say everything in the ground is of native origins.  Hope the rules are different here as I am hunting an old village this summer and hope to find something worth sharing.

Actually this is as good a place as any for expanding the discussion to include Canada.   Unfortunately, I've got a feeling that your regulations will be at least as restrictive as those south of the Canadian-United States border.   Fortunately for you, though, I haven't study your regs, so I could be wrong.  If we don't get a response quickly to this thread, try again in the discussion by location thread for Canada.

I can and will show 'finds' whenever I can.  Drives the Feds crazy knowing there is nothing they can do, as I now live in Panama.  Here, I can look all I want, as long as I don't take out of the country, or sell.  The United States is becoming a police state sadly....moved here in 06 after I was busted for riding my bicycle without a helmet [$50].  Seems stupid, but after you add up all the 'little' freedoms we have given away it's HUGE.  When I was 10 I would go hunting with my single shot 22, now days I would wind up in foster care and my parents in jail.   sad state of affairs indeed.
