This is so cool! I was gonna start gathering parts, but maybe I should wait for the above mentioned new and improved model before starting my build. Also, for the local members: What's the best online parts supplier in the US? (Haven't built anything for at least the last 30 years.)

Hi, all
I forgot to say about RAR archives. The pcb  in RAR archives are in Sprint Layout format ***.lay
Its a very popular format on old continent. If in some archives are schematics, format for it is ***.spl
That means SPlan. The both programs can be downloaded from this link:

These versions have some restrictions, but nevertheless you can still use the software. On the net you can easy find a patch or cracks for this programs if you want full functional versions.

Link is broken !

Has anbody built this detector yet? It sounds very interesting! How well does it discriminate between ferous and non ferous objects? Regards, Christian

Hi admin.
I think it is better to transfer this topic to PI metal detectors because it is not a GPR detector.
Thank you

ПРИВЕТ again Eugene and all detectorists !!!!
Sorry for late answers, but i am very busy, with my job of course.

I did it. I made a "ШАНС - CHANCE".
Eugene you are right about price for parts. It exceed all my expectations. All the parts which are mainly cheap, but LCD , teflon wire, plastic housing, epoxy-resin set, low-capacitanse accustic cable, accu packs are close to $200 U.S. bucks.

This PI Metal Detector works great, and i check it up. So i decided to make another one.
I am sure it will be the Project of the year 2009 !!

Some info to all detectorists which plan to make this PI-machine.
This is nugget-hunting machine and its mean that it have a precise-timing-control system. All the jobs made an AT-MEGA8 microcontroller. Sampling has done on 12-bits with MCP3201. One low-noise, fast-recovery and wide- bandwidth OPA 37 preamp amplify quite a small and fast decaying signals from the coil. Sampling was done after very short delay affter sharp transient Impulse when fet is off (Kick-Back-Pulse in american term). Because of that its very important to make for this PI ultra Fast Mono Coil which have so little inter-winding capacitanse. Big and inert coils cant work with this PI.

I dont want to explain all the theory but who wanna know something more its time to back to university

Russian or American (same thing but knowlage is very important !!!. Why ? Because knowlage is
a LIGHT.Its my opinion).

This is a pictures of "ШАНС - CHANCE" from my friend Aleph.

Eugene could you move this subject and put it on the right place under Topic PI Designs & Deepseekers.
Thanks in advance.!!!  Smiley

NO ONE PI can detect matal on 5 or more meters. For that kind of prospecting you must to made MAGNETOMETER. Overhauser, or Proton Procession Mag can detect iron up to 500 meter in earth core. Of course very large quantity of Iron for example Iron Blocks up to 10000 tons.
