"A 2" piece of ferrite rod with approx 40 turns of 22awg copper wire
Ideally the coil inductance should be approx 350uH, other values work but try not to go above 500uH."  per silverdog

I have 40 turns of #22 on a 10 mm diameter ferrite from an old am radio and only up to about 60uh. At this rate going to be way over 40 turns......

OK well did that wound wire on a ferrite rod till I had 350uH but it only picks up a coin at 1in  Angry could it be the ferrite rod that I'm using dimensions are L=100 mm D=6 mm.

Got the PCB kit a couple of days ago... I am stunned. I thought this was gonna be a simple, cheap PCB and this thing is top notch. Well worth every penny. This guy is legit and great to business with.

Cheers

Sean

Good question. It's been attached to a good number of posts in a variety of incarnations. Let me gather the most up to date info to zip into an archive and I'll upload it into the Downloads area. To keep you going for now, here is the latest and best schematic and the component list for the board you have in your hand.Be aware that there is some errata for you to deal with. Look up the pin data on the transistors to be sure you have them aligned right. Certain types have to be reversed on the board while others drop in as pictured. Also, not shown on the schematic are two jumpers that have to be installed. They are marked on the silk screen as white lines.Linkback:

GD. Just a FYI >>
Found this component list and scheme varies a bit from the one Silverdog sends. Silverdog uses 10K pot for P2 and the one you posted shows 100K.

That's a significant difference. The parts list matches the schematic. It's hard to tell which is correct at this juncture. One of the pitfalls of building from scratch.

I'll look into it.
