Go Up Go Down

Ever had that spot in the stream you wanted to check but was too hard to get anything bigger than a shovel into?

My son and I were sitting around Saturday talking about how we wanted to check out this high mountain stream, but weren't sure how to get equipment there as the first mile is mostly straight up.

We decided to head to the home depot to see what trouble we could get into. We collected a homer bucket, some pvc pipe. 20' pool hose, a couple copper pipe pieces, a hand bilge/sump pump, a metal cased rubber pipe connector, a sink gasket, and a spray handle mount for a sink.

Mayhem ensued but made a nice light hand suction unit in a couple hours time. This dude pulls enough vaccuum to collapse the sides of the bucket if you pump too fast.

Yup thats a good one Homefire, still watching for a cheap blower to make one like it. I wanted something for wet work since we still got water, may never end this year  Cheesy

My son found quite a few small colors, but didn't get to do much as had the wife and 3 kids to deal with  Grin

We gonna run up to the mine Sat mornin and get a bit more serious.

Yeah, I am always looking at building new tools and that looks pretty sweet for those pack-it-in spots. That vac pack is on my to-do list as well. I have seen those in action and they definitely are a necessity for any serious prospector.

Thanks

Sean
