Bought 10 yr old minelabs instead of new chinese  copies, Would rather purchase older original technology with a proven track record.

unfortunately most MFG.s have moved out of USA to China.  Lots of reasons but mostly our Govt. has more to do with that fact. No
encouragement for mfg here in USA and putting on tariffs for those who do move their plants to China.  Companies today think "Global"
and the h*ll with our country where they got started.  Unions lack of wisdom in their constant demands for more and more Goodies, are another main reason.   Maybe one day when our economy is gone, they will come back here, USA, cause no one will have jobs and will work for peanuts.

Poor quality at best and lets face it if one goes down....who do you send to for repair?
Several buy-sell forums on the net so if you can't afford new lots of good used ones out there.

Thats exactly why I refrain from overseas items only from england but I'm american loyal and I refrain from buying even an overseas car I only buy american cars,sweat shops isn't my idea of living.

Well I will always Buy American Products because the way you guys have pride in your herritage,
and the products are good to,
And the reason your detectors are so good is because during the early years all the companies were
competing to be the best so all the ground work was done and these companies are tried and tested
As for a certain other company that get the government to raise the import duty or write lies about
their competitors products on other forums or in their advertising Brochures etc,
The American companies let their products do the talking and the smiles on their customers
faces do the rest, We dont need no more than that, Amen

      Without passing any judgement on the current crop of Chinese knock-off out there (metal detector or otherwise), let me remind you that "Are they really as good as the real ones?  The Chinese have an enormous reputation for making low quality knock-offs.  Are they as durable and as long lasting as the real ones?" is EXACTLY the same thing that was being said about Japanese products from shortly after the 2nd World War until about the early 1970's.
      Anybody care to question the quality of Japanese products or their position in the world market since the mid-70's?
      The quality of Chinese products HAS been steadily improving over the years, so "Made in China" is no longer automatically a joke.
      Appreciate those users who are loyal to the originals (regardless of country of origin) as opposed to the knockoffs.   Hopefully the originals will continue to stay at least one step ahead of their clones.
