I take that back, there are a few skeptics who work in the metal detector industry who make a living off metal detecting. Wonder how many of them could make minimum wage with actual finds on a regular basis? Reminds me of Las Vegas. You always hear about the winners. The others sneak home. I made minimum wage a few days, but the majority of those were because I dowsed the area. Metal detecting is a lot of hard work and it's hard on the hearing.

To be fair to the metal detector industry I should say there are some benefits to other members of society. In particular doctors and hospitals make more off the industry than anyone. Knee replacements, back surgeries, etc. just have to account for millions of dollars each year!

Isn't the reward for demonstrating LRL's still up for grabs ?

Absolutely! One-million dollars and a twenty-five thousand dollar one just waiting to be "won"   Great

HI BH the thing that stops you making a living in the UK is you can't detect on parks and commons if you were allowed to then you'd pick up 160 to 200 coins a day as i have done in an area were i did get permission

I've been making a living with metal detectors for over 28 years and have detected over twenty countries. Still can't find anything with these "non standard" means.

Lets see now?Randi?s Million dollar prize has been in play for around 20 years. To the best of my knowledge no one has qualified to take the test..Now I have saw people taking the test on TV..Yes they were just infomercials to get donations?I have been invited to a couple of events by Carl..both events Carl was a no show? His excuse was that the paper work had not been filed in a timely manner..
What is the odds of these test every being done..Art

A more rational question would be....what are the odds of a common calculator transmitting a special treasure finding signal.

You appear to blaming the lack of success on others. It's James Randi and Carl Moreland's fault that these people (dowsing/LRL claimants) cannot do what they say they can do.

An empty box with wires and switches and a battery is just a box with wires switches and a battery, without a circut board it's just an
unfinished project, as RO pointed out two days ago on another thread and he was right and at current prices that would of cost some miss guided fool over $7000.00 and that creates a whole lot of anger in the real world, people like that should be outlawed

Occam's razor applies neatly here. The best solution is the easiest and most obvious. The tools don't work because they cannot work.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Gd, believe it or not I agree with you to a point. Those expensive swing rods definitely rely on some dowsing ability. Not so with the MFD type equipment. All you have to do is learn to feel the signal line. There's no guesswork involved. It's take practice. Can't be impatient.
