Well I went out for a couple of hours close to the beach to do a few tests on Gold, silver, and Canadian coins. Here are the results and pictures.

Ok so let me explain each picture. First off the picture here is the sensitivity level for the Jeotech. I have described the sensitivity level use the O'clock method. As you can see on the picture.
Soil conditions you can see on the pics. If you want more detail I could describe the feel taste and texture if you would like..But I think the pics say enough.
First pic: This was a void test for shallow small container 750ml yogourt container. Under 5 inches of soil this is what I found, At full sensitivity (06:00) I was only able to pick up one light on the void detection (left hand side led markers) Nothing was detected at (03:00) and that was at 5 inches of soil depth to top of container. Note: I will be doing better void testing later next week with more precise results, this was just a first swing)
Second pic: This was a glass jar 1/4 with Canadian coins at 11" to top of the coins: On detection all the led's went on at 06:00, at 12:00 three lights go on, at Min.1, two lights go on, and Min.2, one light goes on all marked as "Non Ferrous" (bang on pinpointing)
Third pic: This is the Gold ring test at 12 inches of soil: 06:00 one light goes on and marked as "Non Ferrous" At the 03:00 target was lost.... Moving to sensitivity of 04:30 target was reacquired and correctly identified as "Non Ferrous" (bang on pinpointing)
Fourth pic: This is the Silver ring test: At 12 inches bellow, and at full sensitivity 06:00 all I got was a blip.. flash of one light on the metal side (right side) and it identified it as "Ferrous"
Notes:
It can detect fairly big voids.. did locate a marmot den under ground about a foot. I will be doing testing with Rubbermaid containers at different depths and we will see.
The sensitivity seems to work exponentially with the level it is at. From full 06:00 to 03:00 I lost half my depth! But at full sensitivity it was difficult to keep the ground balance.
Min 1: this was really good in very trashy areas.. picked the gold ring from next to a pop can and nails, tabs and foil.. keep in mind that was a surface search!
All testing was done close to shore from the lake.
More testing to come!

Just on a side note here, silver is best detected at 3kHz and gold at 15kHz. This detector is set for 12.5kHz. I guess this is why it did not do so well with the silver ring.
Am i correct in thinking this way?
