I have parts coming from three different directions.   This is why I like Vero Board.  I have a Temp White board that works for me.

I can lay it out and make plans.

Being old time I like the PC out lay like they did in the Rag Mags.  All you had to do was cut them out and photo or etch as is.  What they shown was what was on the Copper side.  This Green Blue and carp is no Good to me.  How do I etch from that?  I can do a Photo Copy with hard toner and bake it on a Board.  Dunk it in Farric Chloride, or Even some HLC Like Meratic and Salt   and it works.

Wow! Looks like I got everone stirred up. I apologize to all if caused you any confusion. My schematic and board interpreting ideas come from an era when a lot of you were not around yet. So to put the issue to rest here is the way I did it.
The IC's on the schematic are drawn from the top view as noted on the schematic.
The board view is of the foil side of the board looking at the bottom view of the IC's. Grab an 8 pin IC, lay it pins up on the board drawing and see if I  am correct. I should have noted this on the board photo. Peace everyone.

Dusty Carl

Please note that the convention of my time showed also a top view of the board with parts layout with a shadow view of the foil side where the components were prominent, and a bottom view of the foil side where components were just outlined with the copper foil was prominent. This is what I  took the first photo by Saromines to be.

I am not familiar with the BC family of transistors, but if the representation on the sschematc is of a view of the transistor from the flat side of the device that contains the part number, then the original board would have to be a top view and therefore would be correct. That being said, then the confusion was on my part because of the different  conventions between our parts of the world. A note on the board as to which view was being shown would solve the problem for all of us. Now, onto the build. Success to everyone.

Hey Homie, my first project was a 1 transistor am transmitter that broadcast my phonograph records to an am radio in the living room. It was built on top of the cover of an old paperboard cigar box with a 6 foot whip antenna rod sticking out the top. YIKES! Shocked

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

This is the last time that I'm going to say this pin one is on the wrong side, look at pin one on the PIC then look at pin one on the oscillator and please stop mixing up two different boards.

I should add the square pad represents pin one

Please read all of my last posts. 4 sections. The last one I drew is correct. It is a bottom foil side view. Not a top down view. The first one that Saromines presented is also correct but is a top down component side view. I just made some refinements. I plan on using a long board with my refinements and minus the LEDs. I also am using a vibrating motor for the buzzer. Here is a picture of the components I have gathered. Still have to find a ferrite rod.
