White's Coinmaster 4-D, 5900Di, PI1000

Go Up Go Down

Hello!

My first post outside of the introduction section, and I'll apologize in
advance for the tons of newbie questions I will no doubt ask.  I was hoping to
find the info before having to post, but I'm afraid I'm missing the way
to get the information I'm looking for...

I have a White's CM4-D that I just brought out of storage from a family
member.  I actually have two control boxes, but only one coil.  One control
box has a burnt resistor, and eventually I may have to pull the *other* box
apart to ID the resistor value, but in the mean time I thought I'd ask here
to see if anyone might have a schematic for this model available.  I don't
have enough posts to be allowed downloads yet... Sad  Hopefully I'll be rectifying
that soon.

The second box passes the battery test, but I get no reaction to test
objects after going through the calibration routine listed in the manual.

In addition to the schematic, would anyone have information as to the
electrical specs of a White's 4B coil?  I think I've figured out the pinout,
but have no way of verifying the integrity of the coil.  What other coils
might work on this detector should the coil be part of the operating problems
(aside from just general user error Wink )?  I've tried what I thought would be
appropriate search terms, but haven't located the info I need.  The manual
didn't list optional coils, and I didn't see that information from White's,
most likely due to the age of this machine.

If no schematics exist, I'll post images, and I can eventually work out a
circuit diagram, but while I can fix broken things, I'm not always good at
re-drawing schematics based on the circuit board itself.

Thanks very much for any information!

Cheers-

Chris

Hello Eugene -

I'm wondering where you find your schematics!  I'd love to get my hands on schematics or a service manual for any of the 6000 Di Series detectors, especially the 6000 Di Pro.

Still searching...

-Pete

Hello . I believe the 6000 DI Pro is posted already on a several Electronic Metal Detecting forums . I will search to see if it is on our Forum ?

The CM4-d with the 4b coil should not be too difficult to repair .

Keep checking back anyway , to post your progress or ask any other questions !!

HH...........Eugene

I ran in to a patch of bad luck...  It's just not conducive to getting things
fixed when your *test* equipment develops problems.   Angry

Whites sent me a set of schematics that are obviously of my CM4-D,
(which reminds me, I need to sent them a thank you)
but seem to be slightly different versions, or else mine had some
modifications done to it, so I've been trying to match transistors
so I know I'm checking the right ones the right way.  I've got a mix
of numbers..some that cross reference, some that don't, so I have to
do a lot of digging to make sure what looks like a match actually fits
the electrical specs of the circuit for the ones that have no cross reference.

In the middle of all this, my old Tektronix 'scope gave up..  So I'm in
the process of trying to locate a driver tube for it.  The schematics
Whites sent me have some nice waveform samples, but I can't duplicate
them with a 'scope that resets itself every few seconds... Sad

The CM4-D is easy to work on, thank goodness.  Now if only I could set
aside the time to fix my equipment *and* diagnose the MD.

Cheers-

Chris

Sounds like you are making progress plugging away at the cm-4 , all you need is a back-up scope !!
You are now cross referencing Tubes and transistors !!!  Hopefully the Tubes for the Tektronix can be still purchased or you can check electronic surplus on the web .

Regards.............Eugene

Hi Eugene52,
Would you have any wiring or coil information on the Garrett Beach Hunter AT3 or AT4, or can you suggest any other coils that can be used with this machine.
Changing the plugs over to suit the circuit board is no problem
Thanks from downunder in New Zealand

Hi, you need to make 5 posts then you'll be able to see/download.
Start off with an introduction in "new members".
