ram;

What did I miss? Can you include a quote and ask the question again.... I looked for a black-box subject, above and did not find any thing, or missed it... sorry.  Detecting

Usually black-box means what is inside is unknown. If it were known, it would not be black.....
black because it is blocked out from vision..... I never realized English was so complicated, I usually take it for granted! What else?  Shocked

In science, black-box can be synonymous (the state of being similar) with black-body which is taken as a standard for heat radiation/ or heat loss. It is, in that case, the basis for calories, etc. and other units of energy/heat. No. I am NOT a perfesser.  No no!

On this forum, black-box is taken to mean some detecting equipment that may have, electronics inside, that may do nothing, like historic Hieronymus machine, but what may be happening, in my opinion, is that the user believes it works, but is in fact, his own ability, in dowsing, that is working.  Wise

Black-box discussion, should be done on the black-box forum. There, I used the word 5 times.... that should be enough to "gag a maggot."  Great

I am holding a class in North American colloquialisms!  Funny

Later.

Goldigger, in this case he means the black plastic box (colored black) that hangs around your neck on the LRL under discussion.

GoldDigger1950;

Wo! You are actually talking to me again!

I did look for the original black box reference, because I wanted to know the issues.... but the net was being weird, I could not find it anywhere! So I thought I would cover all sides.... I missed one black box... the one where the little skeleton pops out and starts cackling!

At local noon, the net gets strange, actually 11 am to 2 pm, because the sun shine directly into the uplink dish and swamps it with solar noise.

The black box is not hanging on my neck, that is for  sure, I dont even have a dead rabbits paw! WE dont have enough  rabbits left to make dead!

Some people believe in automatic writing, too, my aunt was one.

GoldDigger1950;

I thot it was pretty obvious..... you have not answered a single direct question for over a week!

But, like my dad used to say: I'm old and tuff, I can take it!  Funny  Welcome

I have noticed, you went from a compass to a hat and back to another compass! Is there a reason?

(I am afraid  to ask!)

I am still looking for something that suits me, to change me to.

I change my avatar because I like variety. I also think the compass was mankind's earliest and one if its most important mechanical inventions. Even though the lever and wheel are probably older, they weren't "invented" per se. They were discovered. I sing the praises of that poor, unknown inventor of the compass.

As to answering your questions, I have 4,900 unread messages. Which one didn't I get to? If it's urgent, send me a PM, mate.

GoldDigger1950;

If I had to write down all the questions, I ask of the universe, just to make sure each and every one got answered, I would soon be in the rubber chicken coop!   Exhausted

I expect the Astrolabe was invented, in the western Hemisphere, before the compass.... for that was a Chinese thing. Actually, the most important inventions may have been brick and mortar. Or even the axe. Pretty hard to clear land with just your teeth (unless you are a beaver.)  Great

Maybe I should change my Avatar to a moose??  Shocked
