At what depth do you consider when you decide to dig a pulltab? got a 5 inch deep signal onetime, my detector says its a pulltab and indeed it was. usually i dont dig the ones at the surface...

I believe that as the target gets deep, the target identification will be less
accurate. A deep silver could give the indication of iron. Those are a big
supprise when when someone decides to dig it.

If you got a tab signal, it is most likely you will get a tab.

Just keep going like that and you will leave tha goodies for the next follow.

We thank you for that.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Twobox, just dig it all. For every 50 or so pull tabs I dig, one of them turns out to be a ring. Want to save time? Just dig that one and leave the other 49 behind for me.

That was a joke, mate. Dig them all. The first time a gold ring pops out at you, remember where the smile came from. This forum.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

You sound almost sad about it. lol

I have been there believe me. I have not used the M6, but
what I do is to dig the nasty pull tabs at any given site at first.
Then I know how they sound in that dirt and on that day. Then
I will have a sharp ear. I can tell a shallow pull tab with almost
100 percent accuracy that way.

BUT,  IMPORTANT,,,,,

If it is a promising site, I will get rid of all surface trash to get
at tha goodies. The goodies are under trash at most good sites.
With any machine, you can not get through the trash very much
at all, you have to dig it.

Hay TwoBox,

You are welcome. It is my pleasure to help a fellow MDre if I can.
When I started getting the nerve to turn off my disc,,,,, I started
learning more than ever before.

I have one of those Fisher pin pointers...... I never found a single
target with it. I could neither hear it nor feal it vibrate in the field.

I bought a Tiny Tec after that. It only cost $37, but it has worked
for a couple of years now.

But I want a better one.

I think the Detector Pro Pocket Uniprobe would be the best, but it
cost $269.

That cost more than what most of my detectors did.

I will probably replace my Tiny Tec with a Garrett Pro-Pointer. They
are about $128.

Happyv Huntin,

Tabdog

Hello,

Thanks for all these very useful tips (I voted: "Learn your machine")

My advice: be very, very careful with the sounds produced by the MD. Single frequencies at high volume will damage the ears. So, use headphones with adjustable volume, or use detectors with such a function, or mod them.
This is not a real 'tip', but I think treasure hunting would be rather difficult with limited hearing

I've had numerous occasions where there was more than 1 coin in a hole.  Rescanning is a given - just do it.
