Thanks AU, I have just finished writing an email to the Northampton metal detecting club, so will see if they will let me go with them on a hunt or 2 Great

AU, Northampton is my home town, and still have family there.... so will be going to the wifes family in Wokingham for two weeks, and then onto Northampton for two weeks Great

Might do a quick trip to Ireland for a day or two just to see other family.... but not sure about that yet. Can a person hut public parks in England? or must you get permission with that also? Hello

Peter most parks in the UK are off limits there's bound to be a sacred plant or a piece of moss growing so they can make it off limits,

you can't detect on the commons either, because of a 400yr law, you best bet is farm land and it is pretty easy to get permission

to detect there..

Well Peter we are all Ambassidores of this hobby and if we all try to be there for each other and do the right thing theres is no reason it can't work out, some things are a little over the top but I am sure we have some common ground
where all parties can benifit and thats a good thing.
