I have the next model up, the 550

Goes 8/9 inches on a coin, but beyond 5" you get just a change in the threshold signal.

You should get similar depth, providing it is a 220, not a Treasure seeker (previous model).

Excuse my typos, I've been replying using my mobile phone.

Yeah the CS220, is probably 30 years old now. Air test only shows 2" of depth. Maybe batteries were on their way out.

I think i'll give the CS220 to the missus then if it isn't rubbish.

Thanks for your quick replies.

I think I may sell the 250 after just a weeks use! eek

Wacha want fer it?

I have a 250 and love it. Yes it's entry level but it's a tough little booger. I can strap it to a quad and go. I've busted up (Literally) much more expensive machines.

Nothing better than inviting a novice out for the first time, putting a quality machine in their hands and with little instruction, they find stuff. The ace 250 is perfect for this. Remember our first find? exiting wasn't it?

I don't know about the rest of you but I have more than one fishing pole too. Different gear for different types of fish. Well I look at MDing much the same way.

In answer to the original question, Yes it will work. You will get a few more false signals than with some other machines, but tone down the levels.

Enjoy DC

Is this the machine you are discussing?

It looks a lot like the old Radio Shack units. Might even be the same unit in an orange plastic box instead of the blue. The only drawback of those old things was the lack of ability to discriminate with any degree of accuracy. Just the basics on them but certainly nothing wrong about that.

The Ace250 has some undocumented features. Rather than get into another bruhaha here over it, PM me and I'll tell you about the one that will help you the most.

No it does not ,,That is like saying kgc  has undocumented evidence which would make it true unreliable unless documented

I think we all saw what you mean.

Hopefully, our friend Maxreality will have read the previous postings in this thread.

And will believe what the manufacturer says.

ahem...  Fight

I did switch the device off/on with the coil left on the sand, but this didn't make any difference. Although, I didn't wait 30 seconds before powering back up, if that would make the difference. But, will try again next time.

Leave it about at the same level as when you ordinarily turn it on.
