Hi,
The Ace 150 (similar) seems pretty good on the dry sand, o.k. on salt wet sand too (does false a small amount).

living in florida -- one has to reduce the sensativty levels a bit in the wet sand areas of the beach due to minerals in the salt water ringing up as metal --- the ace 250 is really quite  sensitive --- running at full blast senstivity setting can cause falsing often in "normal" plain soil  -- normally running 4-5 is about all one needs to run to get max depth on "normal" land ---at a salt water beach dry sand and wet sand are way differant ---3 or even 2 bars at times is all you can run and stay stable in wet sand or water---in very shallow (at waters edge) salt water it can be a bit spotty at time --so just keep the sen level down --dry sand - normally you can run 4-5 bars in most cases.

around power lines and such and in high mineral or other trouble areas --often dropping the sen level a bit  will smooth out a otherwize "freaked out" machine --and make it usible.

in very bad iron soil --notching out iron can assist too.

I see a lot of guys using them here in Perth and they seem to like them. I asked one guy and he told me that the ground balancing is automatic so it rapidly adjusts to conditions. That machine is on my want list. Looks very nice to me.

The ACES were not designed to be used on wet salt sand.

They are entry level detectors intended for fun and mainly coinshooting, a thing they can do quite well.

On wet salt beaches, the ACES are useless.

They are often over rated by enthusiast owners.

Use them for what they were designed !

They seem to work just fine on the beach. Where did you get the notion that they do not work in wet sand? They do have automatic ground balance and that is the key to wet sand hunting.

Hi

Automatic ground balance does not exist in this price category.

It is a factory set ground balance suited for most ground condition, but NOT the wet salt sand.

Proof enough : why should the ACES have a feature that the GTIs do not have? The wet sand feature on the GTI 1500 is a simple disc of foil, not a manual or automatic ground balance. This feature is only available on the GTI 2500.

Trust me. If the Aces were that good on the wet sand, I'd buy one : it is my favoutite hunting place. Top of the line specialty detectors are needed here.

As I said, the ACE is a great coin shooter, maybe relic hunter in the US (relics=buckles or bullets), but is NOT suitable for european relic hunting conditions, for instance, nor is it for serious wet sand hunt. Will do OK on the DRY sand, that's what it likes most !

HH

The Ace250 does have automatic ground balancing. I've spoken to users of the Ace250 who have actively used it on beaches. They like it.

Why don't you rent one and see how it works? As to trusting you? Well, you appear not to have even read the Ace250 specifications on the Garrett pages.

I wonder if our friend up there has even placed his hands on a Ace 250. From what i've read the ace will hunt salt beachs but you may have to tone down the sencetivity. I only hunt the big lake and dirt and love the ace.
