Hi,

The article is about the fact that artifacts seem to appear on earth surface when they were buried. They don't talk about sinking, but of course we cannot deny it : physical factors, like rain, wind, mud; animal factors, like ants or moles, or walking on it in the mud, etc.

I just find fun/weird that here the discussion was " Do artifacts sink" when one of our MD magazines was experiencing the opposite.

I think that it is a mix of everything, and there are many factors we don't even think about that interfere and combine to explain why in some cases recent things appears to sink when ancient artifact seem to pop up on surface.

Regards,

Oli

Hi Guys,

I am still offline with my internet  Great I need ideas for people stealing cables  Undecided

The place where I placed the coins was where no one goes, I only went there at first light when nobody was around....  No no! and it was in grass 3' high.... Do not know what else I could do.... But am thinking about getting it going again in another place  Great

Oli, welcome to the group... I would love to see that article if you can still find it  Great I must admit, I have only seen one place that items seem to float after lots of rain.... It was a war site, and after lots of rain, bullet casings seem to then show up.... other than that, I think most items sink  Idea There seems to be a lot more to this than what we know,,,,, that is why I like this topic  Shocked

Hi all, Hey Peter how about to get a couple of coins and give them a good head start. Say 1cm in the ground. Then they shouldnt go missing lol   Cheesy just use a rock marker of some kind to keep GD and Seldom happy, We may need some help from Art... for some L rods to check up on the experiments Cool
For the cable guys Perhaps you need some sort of rapid responce unit  Cool
Good luck with your new site, and hope your internets are all good soon.

I have no idea what that is supposed to mean except that it appears you have some sort of bee in your bonnet about Seldom and me. You can stop this kind of comment right now. No more warnings.

On this thread, the only comment I have made is that the experiment will take too long. By the time you have a decent result, you will probably have to wait 20 or more years. Most of you will have long since lost interest in this thread if it is even still around. Other than that, the facts have proven time and again that it takes animal activity to move things around in the soil. Not just time. The soil where these are located looks to be just bare soil. In desert climates, I have found lost articles that have spent 100 or more years just laying on the surface. No grass, no insects. No insects, no movement. Simple as that.

They cover it and then uncover it. Seriously. I found a coin in the Mojave Desert that had lain there for 100 years. I couldn't see it but it was right there in plain sight. It was tarnished but in perfect shape otherwise. Silver dollar. A beauty.

Surface finds of 60 or more years really aren't all that uncommon out here in the desert once you get out of the normal traffic areas for modern travel.   A lot factors into it including topography and how prone the specific area is to flooding when/if it receives a decent rain.    Admittedly, most of the finds aren't surface finds but they happen often enough that the biggest surprise is that someone else didn't find it first.

 Hi All

GD, I was just jocking around. Dont take it the wrong way. I seriously thought a rock marker could be a good Idea, and a bit of fun also  Cool
Peter how is the new experiment ? The scrap metal merchants probly know who is bringing in the copper wire's. So that is another way to go about to put a stop to it.

What on earth made you think I took it wrong? I was simply elaborating on the find. Seems as if you took my post wrong.
