Go Up Go Down

Hi Eugene,
I have now got to the stage with my project, where I have tested my ?Bandido Strip board? circuit as far as possible without having the proper coil.
Amazingly apart from ...one track cut... (column 18, row 20) that I forgot to include, which actually s/circuited the 0v and ?ve  volt tracks (I found this on initial checks fortunately) and getting T5 a PNP and T6 an NPN transistors mixed  up it all appears to work ok.

I now come to the stage where I am going to make the coil. BUT in ?Surprise !! It?s a Bandido.zip? the file ?New Image-1.GIF?  and the file ?New Image-3.GIF? appear to contradict each other.
On Image-1 the Bucking coil is wound around the Transmit Coil.
On Image-3 the Bucking coil is wound around the Receive Coil.
I guess both are correct, I was going to follow the ...Image-1... as the reference frequency instructions seem pretty clear, so should I carry on.
Or should I follow the ...Image-3... instructions instead.
Can you please advise me with this as I am a bit of a novice at winding coils and don't know if one way is better than the other.

Thanks Eugene in anticipation Mike.

Thanks Paul, I'll hold on that offer for now if I may, I need to wind the coils first. I have made the template for ...Coplanar Search coils by Dave Emery... and just need a bit of info before I proceed any further.

Best regards Mike.

Hi Edouard,
Just got back from holiday and saw your post.
I have been building the circuit myself recently and except for ..one extra track cut.. that I missed out ..mentioned in a previous post.. the circuit seems to work.
I am going to make the search coils now that I am back.

Edouard.. I suggest you keep on one file all the points mentioned in previous posts, so that you can refer to them easily.

I found when building the ..stripboard.. that the smaller the components used the better, because the board is so compact and that sometimes a certain way around they fitted better.

So try to fit the components into a local area first before soldering. As long as the component ends go in the right tracks its ok.

The link wire should be single strand and insulated, I used telephone wire because it had different colour coatings and was nice and thin.

I hope you get on ok.
Best regards Mike.

Hi Edouard,
Your Reply is ..No. 47.. above, If you look back at ..Reply 40.. I have put the details of the track cut in that post,

With regard to the decoupling capacitors use ?0.1uf 63v Farnell Order Code: 1100429? they are the cheapest and I had to very carefully wire them with insulation onto the track side of the board, directly onto the ..pins 4 & 8 of the 8pin IC?s and 7 & 14 of the 14 pin IC?s...

Reply 24?  gives information about capacitors, if you have not ordered them already use 0.25w Resistors, as I mentioned in ..Reply 34.. they are smaller .

I have given you various bits of information if you go back through the posts, have a read of it again and see if it is helpful.

I have built my circuit now and am in the process of making the coils, its a long project, but should be worthwhile in the end.

All the best Mike.
