Hi Edouard,
Sorry, I haven't forgotten about you!
I have a pile of parts here for you, let me know what you need.
I also have an 8" tesoro "polo" coil (which Is not the best of condition and has been repaired but still works o.k.).
It's the "5 pin" variety which I think is o.k. for this.
You are welcome to it if you want, it would save you trying to "wind your own"!

Paul

Hi Paul,
yes! Interrested I am in your "polo".I forgot to buy the pots, the T1.3.6.7. (2N3906) and T2.4.5 (2N3904), the connectors and switches...But more than this, I do need advices concerning components( diodes way, capacitors way, etc...).
I'll send pictures step by step so the other "beginners" know if it's possible to build or not without knowledge.
Do not hesitate to contact me, I'll send you money for the mailing.

Thanks to all for your precious help.

I'm now nearly ok with resistors...
I can't find on the schematic the R18, R24(said optional) and the R69.
Concerning this last one, his value is 27K...forgot to buy this one; can I replace it by a 22K or will it change everything?
Many questions those last few days...Hope I'll be able to finish it.

Go Up Go Down

Hi David & Edouard,
Sorry I,ve been offline for a few days, but have been trying to setup my coils now that I have wound them, I tell you it is not easy. Fortunately for you David I think your ..Laser Hawkeye coil will be ideal to use for setting up your circuit and Edouard if Paul is sending you a coil that will solve the main problem you would have had.

The main problem I have had is tuning the coils to get the null point (no output) with no metal near the coils, I get it ..spot on.. then any slight tightening of the coils changes the setup again.

I had it just right completely zero output after the first stage, so I wrapped the foil around the coils to make the ..Faraday Shield.. checked it all out again and it was reading 1.4v. this was all to do with pulling the coils tighter with the foil.

I am going to have wind a new small coil, then try a different approach of gluing the coils semi-permanently so that I can remove some windings without upsetting the the rest, then when I get the Null point, permanently glue the coils together, check it then wrap the foil around knowing that the coil cannot move.
David I will post a photo of my layout a.s.a.p.

all the best Mike.
