Hi Guys

Well I've been busy for the past few days building a water tower as we are having big problems over here with the drought every bit of rain watter that can be saved is welcomed. How have you all been keeping and have you gone out detecting in the past few days? I have ordered a 2.4Ah battery that will fit inside my MD so I will only take the 7Ah battery for very long outings.

Regards Xavier

Hello Xavier,
I am doing great here. I wish you could have the rain that we have had... Lightning blew my wireless modem / Lan last night.... I only had the wireless modem for about a week... cost me R650 then and now again another R650 to replace it. The Lan was an onboard one, so disconnected it in the CMOS and added another normal Lan card.... Now I am back online....
I received my new Ace 250 and took it out yesterday..... Need to get used to it.... Unfortunately there are a couple of things on the display that is not lighting up.... so now need to contact the Garrett in SA and see what I can do to fix the problem. I am posting another movie onto Youtube today for yesterdays hunt... keep your eyes peeled.... if you have not joined the Youtube channel please do then it will tell you when I post movies.

Look after yourself, and Hi to all the others... going to be quiet till after Christmas I suppose...

Hi Guys!
I have been in the bush, cutting people for the whole week , so I lost contact with the world ! There was no time for nice things ! Going back tomorrow again , but maybe will find few hours for some small escapade ? Pgill , it is great that you got Garret 250 ! Lots of guys are saying that it it very nice machine ! How was yours first impression ? How do I find that movie of yours on Tube ?
Xavier , call this rain away from us ! Yesterday my house was flooded ! I see that there is a topic about MD : Gold Pic 3 . About 2 years ago I did build one  and it was working o.k. but something happened and is " dead " now ! Seeing that topic I decided to pull it out of the box and maybe try to repair it ? If I can make to work it again than I will try to enclose it in water - proof container and make something like underwater detector ! Well , first will have to contact guy who designed it - he is from CT , maybe he can give me idea what is wrong ! And where is Viking ? Why are you so quiet ?  All the best , guys , hope to hear something from you !
This is pic . of my old construction - Gold Pic 3

Hi Silki,
Nice to hear from you again.... hope you are well?

I had a great time with this new Ace 250 of mine... did not find the world, but was great anyway. I find the detector to be quite difficult to get used to, and not as easy as all the movies make it out to be, but think that I will get used to it pretty quickly.
My one has a problem on the display of not showing all the stuff... not sure if it was banged about or what, but am phoning the agents tomorrow.

You can see my first movie with the Ace on my website:

Good day Gentlemen
Sorry , it's been a bit chaotic. End of the year blues I'm afraid...when everyones bad planning becomes my problem hehe!
Silki please tell us  you are a doctor....you say you have been cutting people in the bush....I'm getting worried about going on a trip with you Shocked
We have not had any rain but the wind has been insane, I understand how so many ships wrecked in Table Bay! I am doing a scuba coarse soon and have been quite consumed with the organizing and planning on that as well.
I have done another post on my blog site, this is the second one...for any of you that may be interested. You can go and check it out at :

and click on Hunt Blog. It's nothing great but it is a start. I am involved in a project to recover and old cannon and I am trying to sort out a video cam housing so I can make a little video of the whole thing.
PGill , I fear that when the display gives trouble on these machines it usually needs a professional repair. I would be really keen too hear how Garrett takes care of you.
So guys while Pgill is sorting his machine out....let's get as many of those Kruger Pounds out of the ground as possible. Wink It's the right thing to do!
Any way that is pretty much the happening here.
Nice to catch up on things again...darn Blackberry is not notifying me of posts again!
Best regards
Oscar

Oscar,
Do not worry, you will know how they take care of me... it will be interesting as the detector came from the USA and these guys are the agents for Garrett.... Will they pass the buck or will they take it on themselves to help me... time will tell.
In the mean time, you guys have some time to get the gold before I get back into action  Great take advantage of the time wisely  Wise
Where is the new blog article.... or am I rushing you... I do not see it  Idiot  Grin

Get that camera going and give us some great underwater shots.... Have you seen my new movie that I put out.... check it out on my website..... The link is above.

Hi Pgill.
Sorry. I was just informing Silki of the second post....I did not get out there this weekend, well actually I did but I only had 30 min and I got chased around by bees! So I just packed it in and went home.
There is still only the 2 posts.
I will try and get something together for the dive....but it has to handle 10 -12m so it must be properly made.
Chat later
Oscar

Hi Viking ! Glad you are around ! Where are you planning to do scuba course ? NAUI , PADI or CMAS ? I am diving instructor myself with CMAS and also Diving doctor  - did my medical diving qualifications with NAVY  in Simonstown ! I did quiet few dives around CT - and love it , but a bit cold !!  There is thousands of wrecks there , many of them still to be found - and lots of treasures inside ! I am planning to do wreck diving course in CT next year . Do you have underwater MD in yours range ? Very good photo/ video housings are made by Ikelite - american . Agent was in CT when I was buying my for photo camera .
Pgill , did you got yours Garret straight from US ? Did you have to pay some taxes or something ? Garret make very good underwater MD - " Sea Hunter " which is on my " wish list " for sometime in th future !

Hi Silki
Maybe we can do a dive some time in the future. I sell the CZ21, it's a great diving machine.
I have been researching some wrecks and there seem to be quite a few. The thing to do is to find your own wreck though. Magnetometer is about R140000 hehe"
I am also doing a proposal for the SAPS for a side scan sonar and a sonar system for an ROV......seems that I am meeting the right people Cheesy
I am following a lead on a hunting site for us, it is in the Colesburg area and there is a large farmhouse that we can rent on a nightly basis. I am busy getting the details of the owners and he has lots of friends with farms in the area. One of them has some type of concentration camp on it as well. They have found a great deal of bullets there and this farmer collects and displays them. So I think that if we donate some of our booty we might build a lasting relationship.
I'll keep you all informed to the progress on this one....we have to get it there's no other way!
Oscar

Hi guys

Silki I was living next to the navy in Simon's town while I was doing my commercial diver coarse in CA harbor with DRU so it looks like we will all be able to dive together as we are all certified and that should be fun.

Guess what the Eaves are coming to visit me tomorrow I will have our photo taken while we are detecting on the beech that is if I can find someone to take the photo without running off with my camera LOL

And Pgill I'm busy making a UW MD with a 500mm coil and a short shaft I will post some photos of it once I have something good to show.

Regards Xavier
