Use higher sensitivity levels when searching
for very small or very deep targets. Use lower
sensitivity levels in locations where the detector is
behaving erratically due to excessive metallic trash
interference, high mineral soils, saltwater beaches,
or other metal detectors are present.

Also ,,,,,,,,,  The ACE 250 is a preset ground balance that stays preset the same all the time.

How about, I will try these methods and let everyone know how they work, or dont work? Smiley

On another note.... anyone have any tips on what i should be looking for when hunting the beach after a hurricane? Im searching a area where a ship went down a few hundred yards off shore that had barrels full of half pennies and gold guinees. I was told the waves will be 15-20ft and 10ft swells. We are going sunday early morning. Should i even search the wet sand? Or right where the wet sand meets the dry?

Not according to Garrett. The ground balance auto adjusts on power up. What good is preset ground balance? Your statement makes absolutely no sense at all. It made no sense the last time you made it either.

The Half Pennies are probably in one solid chunk but the gold coins may be scattered around. Good luck.

SIGH !    Undecided

I don't know why garret ACE 250 users absolutey want their detector to have a self adjusting ground balance<;

This is a feature only available on more expensive models.

To convince you, look at the 2099 online garrett products catalog, summary of the features per model.

The ACE has NO self-tracking, self adjusting ground balance. (other garrett models, as you can see; do.)

At this price, it would be a miracle.

Using it on wet salt sand at the beach would be useless. You need a specialty detector here.

I dont know why people say useing it on wet sand is useless? I have used mine on wet sand, and even in the water a little bit and found stuff. Some of the stuff was quite a few inches deep too. I had to drop the sensitivity a little, but it worked just as good in the wet sand then the dry afterwards.

It's all right. Let them believe or not as they choose. This merry-go-round is pointless. Is the moon full?

Well at least you did what Garret said and what we all know Use higher sensitivity levels when searching
for very small or very deep targets. Use lower
sensitivity levels in locations where the detector is
behaving erratically due to excessive metallic trash
interference, high mineral soils, saltwater beaches,
or other metal detectors are present.
