Think about it, mate. I suggest to you that your posts of late have all been negative. Hence the warning in my last reply to you. If you call what you have been doing positive, I'd hate to see you when you're angry. Sorry, Josey, negativity isn't what has you in trouble here. Arguing with logic about HOW to determing a lead is true or false is the problem. You believe that if it's in the archives, it must be true. We're telling you that even WRONG things get archived. End of story, mate. End of story.

My commits here are not about the seal if its real or fake All I am pointing out that just because something is archived doesn't make it a fact   it only proves its worth more study by researchers that's all.

Josey you taking shots at mods here is wrong We are posting as members trying to keep you from leading newbies down the wrong path thats all. Sorry we did not jump on board and claim your the best smarts of us all like you wanted but dude your wrong.

all i said was it looks like archived proof its a die seal you guys i didnt say it was proof  of anything just what it looks like.  nothing negative in that and nothing leading anyone anywere. no claim of it being fact,  not tellin  anyone to jump on board  not claiming to be smart either if it the post interests folks its up to them to dig deeper into it  basically the same thing your sayin  GD the only fact i gave was people posted finds on this site and you cant dispute it/they do  if you dont think there aren't any go to the thread called todays finds theres a whole bunch of them of all kinds the only thing one could question is if they found it  because based on the picture POSTED it looks like a posted find .which is what i said about the seal "looks like achived proof its a die seal of the KGC" if a picture of a find is posted on thunting it looks like a posted find of whatever and  is in a way archived on this site  and folks can see it. why do you not ridicule those or say they are /maybe leading "newbies " in what ever direction that you dont like or tell them what they believe   or is it just mine you want to imply a bunch of stuff to seriosly think about that .   only i dont tell people what to do its up to them they can  determine how they want look at a possible lead it is a free country(exept you cant smoke some places and cant buy a big soda pop up in new york city ,and  have to buy insurance now if you want  or not   ) i havent told anyone anything about logic mine or  theirs and have a right to argue it as do ya'll if we decide to. GD 1950 YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT I BELIEVE  BRO dont tell me you do man that aint right if i want you to know i will tell you   .and seldom you have given me positive  info to research i havent had time to look into it very far yet but iwill   you gave me a start and it is appreciated when i asked what more proof do you need  which no one answered   i was hoping some one would so i  see what avenues they would use to find more proof about it  or proof to the contrary   not angry at anyone for anything . just a misunderstanding on my, yours or all of our parts   movin on  Happy Friday  josey

J. M. Chapman, 90 Ton schooner, was purchased by in 1863, by Asbury Harpending and other California members of the Knights of the Golden Circle in San Francisco to outfit as a Confederate privateer.[1]
The object of Harpending was to raid Pacific Mail Steamship Company ships along the Pacific coast carrying gold and silver shipments to Panama, to capture and carry it back to support the Confederacy. Their attempt was detected and the ship and crew were seized on the night of their intended departure by a boarding party of the USS Cyane, revenue officers and San Francisco police.[2][3]
The ship was lost in December 1864 between Shoalwater Bay and San Francisco.[4]

EXCERPT: "In 1854, Virginia-born George W. L. Bickley organized the covert Knights of the Golden Circle to establish a commercial empire based on the expansion of slavery into the West Indies, Mexico, and parts of Central America.  With the southern United States included, the area would become a “Golden Circle” intended to control commerce in tobacco, sugar, rice and coffee; the annexation of Mexico was the ultimate goal.

Bickley’s scheme was one of many that simmered beneath the surface of America’s republican crisis exacerbated by congressional decisions over the extent of slaveholding: the Missouri Compromise of 1820, the Gag Rule of 1836, the Wilmot Proviso, and the Compromise of 1850.  Because the extension of slavery into the Mexican cession was part of the controversy, Texas became the location of thirty-two local chapters of the Knights.  In 1860, these “castles” provided support for unsuccessful attempts to invade Mexico from Texas.

Although the organization became less visible as the American Civil War progressed, it operated as a fifth column and boasted that its membership included prominent Americans from both sides of the conflict.  The Union arrested Bickley for spying in 1863 and held him as a prisoner until the end of the war."

Author David C. Keehn will speak before the Filson Historical Society in Louisville, Kentucky on May 21st. Mr. Keehn, I believe, has written the most comprehensive authoritative book on the history of the Knights of the Golden Circle to date and if you are in this area I urge you to attend this meeting.

Reservations are required.

Filson Historical Society
1310 S. Third St., Louisville, KY, 40208

“Knights of the Golden Circle: Secret Empire, Southern Secession, Civil War” – David C. Keehn

Based on years of exhaustive and meticulous research, David C. Keehn’s study provides the first comprehensive analysis of the Knights of the Golden Circle, a secret southern society that initially sought to establish a slave-holding empire in the “Golden Circle” region of Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. Keehn reveals the origins, rituals, structure, and complex history of this mysterious group, including its later involvement in the secession movement.

David C. Keehn is an attorney from Allentown, Pennsylvania, with a history degree from Gettysburg College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.

welcome back, cccalco, it has been a while.   I hope those who attend do so with an open mind, even if they are naturally skeptical of all things KGC.   I also hope those who do believe in KGC who attend take at least a modicum of skepticism with them.
