Aquanut, That's what I like to hear, we need more people doing the same. As for missing the point, I'll just accept that I was wrong and leave it alone. I apologize.

This is as irrelevant now as it was before. It has nothing at all to do with this discussion. If you post it again, I'll call you on it again. And again. And again.

Randy is in court because he violated the law. If he knew he was doing so and was trying to prove a point he is more guilty for that fact. These laws CAN and HAVE BEEN reversed but somebody breaking them on purpose gives fuel to those who want them kept in place. Why you refuse to see this fact is beyond me.

RANDY BROKE THE LAW. RANDY WILL PAY FOR THAT. NO AMOUNT OF DISAGREEMENT OR QUOTING OF NONSENSE HERE WILL CHANGE THAT.

If you believe I am wrong, that's your free choice but to take the side of a man who has admitted he broke the law is not very bright.

You missed the point entirely. BTW I don't need to be lectured. I was one of the key factors in getting the latest legislation limiting our interests in treasure hunting/metal detecting squashed here in Florida.

Then why don't you do something positive like informing people of the methods you used to get some stupid laws overturned? You can be stubborn and stomp your feet saying what a hero you are but you'd be better serving this forum to explain what you did and what members here can do besides show support for a lawbreaker.

Stop giving lip service and start giving some instructive help. I've done so. You can too.

GD,
I'm not going to respond to your personal attacks on me Randy or Gramps43. I will however direct you to the treasurenet forum where this topic was covered in detail. If you need to know anything further, I'll be happy to address it after you've done your research. This was a sneak attack instigated by Florida's state archaeologists getting a state senator to sponsor a bill essentially as a prelim to eliminating treasure hunting in the state. By the time the affected people (namely us treasure hunter's) found out about it, the bill had been passed by unanimous vote in the state senate and was going before the budget committee. After a hasty attack on all the senators and the governor, citing their lack of understanding of the implications, not to mention the economic impact, notifying the media and all others affected,ie: metal detectorists, manufacturers, dealers, sub surface salvagers and suppliers, hotels, boatyards, restaurants and so on, the bill died in Budget. Senator Hayes' comment was that the "bill is dead, dead, dead! I'm now in the process to have an existing bill modified. One of the stupid things it has in it, is anything taken from state lands, or sovereign state waters (which basically includes all of Florida) that is over fifty years old is against the law and subjects you to legal action. So, if I found a ring I lost 51 years ago, to avoid becoming a criminal, I need to leave it there in the surf, hoping it will still be in the same place when and if the state allows me to recover it! By the way, Florida has'n't issued any new salvage/recovery permits in nearly 20 years. And don't bring up the renewals of those that are already grandfathered in.

OK so I'm breaking my own rule.  First off Pastor Niemoller's quote is quite relevant, if you don't stand up for the rights of your self and others eventually there will nobody to stand for them.

Randy DID NOT break a standing law, there is no law in Oregon stating that the plume of a dredge is pollution.  The USFS employee and later the OSP cop were making law where none exists.  Laying down and letting the man roll over you is not what this country was founded on and is not what a man does when an injustice is visited upon him by an individual who allows his personnal animus to create that non-existant law.

Yes he did. People do not wind up in court for no reason at all. You're not seeing this correctly. You are reacting like I would if he just said the rules were unjust. Had he done that, he'd have my full support. But, he CHOSE TO BREAK THE LAW and he got caught. That nonsense about a plume of pollution is someone else's comment here. He was cited for having hs dredge set up illegally. He admits he had a dredge set up. He was inside of an area where he shouldn't have been with a dredge. He admits all that. What he is trying to do is get off because they waited too long to serve him. Wow. What a classic jerk.

Your quote remains irrelevant as it was before. It has nothing to do with people being dragged off to be murdered by Nazis. Just knock it off. Seriously. You insult everyone here with that.

What's next?
Don't like speed limits? Drive as fast as you want.
Don't like your coworker? Punch your coworker.
Don't like laws against dumping garbage along side the road? Dump yours because YOUR garbage is all right to be there.
Being poor is unfair? Just rob a bank.

You cannot break the law and expect people to support you. If you don't like the law, fight it. Don't break it. The more you support this guy, Gramps, the worse YOU look.

Yet you just did respond.

Now here's the thing. I never attacked anyone here. I am attacking the ACTIONS here of people who should know better than to break the law. If you don't like a law, fight it. Like you did. Treasure.net has kicked all users from their forum about 6 months ago and most of the smart ones haven't signed up again. I'm not going there to read about your fight with Florida. If you brought it up here, describe it here. Otherwise, keep to yourself. This is grownup talk now. Breaking the law is not acceptable behavior here or anywhere.

GD,

How someone with as much education as you have could be so absolutely ignorant is more than my old noncoms tired grey cells can comprehend.  There are people all over this country and the world who are accused of and adjudicated for breaking non-laws or committing non-crimes wvery day.  These laws and crimes are created in the minds of bureaucrats and government functionaries and written into case law by activist judges.  If you cannot or do not wish to see this then you do truly live with blinders on!

I'm outt'a here folks you can scratch my name from the rolls, I will not be returning!!!
