OK I'm here...I should have used sunscreen for my neck...ahhhh I am burned.
I started out with air test...very bad.. did not work at all... the ground balancing art prevented me from doing effective testing..
The ground balancing thing in general was a bit tricky...I had to reread that chapter a few times. I will give you the coles notes!
Now to give you an idea on the soil conditions ..Dry compact soil (no clay) with sod, few rocks in various locations in depth ranging from nickle size to two fists. Regular light to medium brown dirt..
After turning it on.. you must raise it up 40cm.. almost up to your knee. Then you trip the reset button. Then you lower it to the ground slowly... if no lights go on you are ready....if they do (in my case) you must raise it up to 40 cm again and toggle the +/- on the ground balance switch depending on which lights go off and how many.... then you repeat until you get no lights on lowering the device..OK ready to go at this point.
First sweep of the front yard came up with an American 1980 penny on it's side 7.5 inches into the soil. Found a few rusted nails and some construction debris (from when the house was built in 88') at various depths from 3' to 5-6
It was pretty accurate on if it was ferrous or not.
What I was surprised about was that it had no problem locating a buried cable two feet down in the front yard. (I recently had to bury a power cable to supply a 100 amp sub board in the garage and by code you have to bury it 2feet down and mark it 1 foot with yellow tape warning)
Oh and another thing.. the void detection... not bad.. I now discovered I have a culvert running along the side of my property underground. It went nuts on the big concrete tube!
I have more to tell but a few of the MD guys just called.. they want me to come out and bring the new toy...
Be back tonight... more stuff later
