My best detector is the one between my ears. Its on the fritz lately, but Im gonna send it in for a tune up. Its having battery and memory issues. It keeps falsing, and coil is loose. My VDI is seeing double, and VCO is singing "I have the whole world in my hand".  I hear with the new coil it can take pictures of buried gold.

Like Homey says "There is a machine for every job."

I guess if I was limited to one detector it would be a Ace 250/350 or a Tesoro Silver maybe a fisher F4 Bug is making some great finds with his F4.

I never considered the ace or f4 as serious machines. They do a good job, but thanks for the info. My favorite is always the one with working batterys. I will read up again on those two machines. Also new is not always better if you cant use the darn thing, ha ha.

My favorite detector is my Garrett Groundhog but it's no longer the one I reach for first. It's just too heavy to swing for more than a couple of hours and with me spending as much as 6 hours on some trips, that can get tedious. These days, I reach for my Minelab Eldorado Mark II first and my Tesoro Compadre second. Both are light weight machines. The Minelab has absolutely no discrimination which suits me perfectly. The Tesoro is easily set to no discrimination.

Yikes! I don't have a favorite, do I? Sorry, mate. Too many choices.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Sure wish this was a "what is your favorite drywasher" thread. I built a drywasher yesterday, Im only missing the part that works. I have favored the Tesero's since I first read about them. I dont see much on the Fishers, but not looking in the right place. I think its like GD said what do you like. I have a good coin shooter that works everywhere so far. I need a deep machine. and those are gonna cost me plenty clad. But I dont want a machine that goes 20 feet. Smiles.

Hey Karl, get ya a 4 inch coil for that sucker, you will really be surprised.
