JUST HOPE YOU CAN READ !

Because I found evidence that people sustaining that the ACES have automatic ground balance are WRONG!

This is a link to a PDF Garrett Product Catalog for 2009.

Garrett Catalog 2009

Not only "automatic ground balance" is not mentioned in the product features, page 16 (and why on earth omit such an important feature?)

BUT the list of the features page 34 speaks for itself. Automatic ground track and automatic ground balance are NOT present on the ACES.

The ground balance on entry level MDs is factory preset. This is common to all brands.

With 25 years of detecting, of which more than 16.000 hours beach detecting, plus two buddies with ACES I personnaly tried on the wet sand for the fun, I think I know what I'm talking about.

Look at getting a CZ, Multi freq. Minelab, or  a pulse induction detector, Then you have the best of both world's  land and water

Hay Beach Comber,

That should be good enough for any one who
can read.

According to Garrett Meatal Detectors them
selves.

Garrett said that the Ace 250 does not have
Ground Balance, Manually Adjustable, nor does
it have Automatic Ground Tracking.

It is the companies putting missleading info
in their advertising.

They all inflate the worth of their product, but
not all misslead us on GBing.

The long and short is,

You can hunt wet salt beaches with any metal
detector.

But, tha tried and true beach machines will
do a better job.

I think we can agree with that.

Works fer this old dog,

Tabdog

I completely agree with you, Tabdog.

I hunt the dry beaches with my Compadre or an older TR detector.

The wet part is work for my Full Broad Spectrum Minelab Quattro.

All in all, every detector wil perform very well in the hands of a routined user, providing they are used for what they were designed for.

ace 250 currently --but used many many others

Go Up Go Down

first of all not all areas are equally salty or mineral loaded as others --ocean temp effects salinity levels as well --- so what might be a great machine at spot A might suck at spot B ---that said --- by dialing down the sensitivity a bit say 2 or 3 bars normally here in my area in north florida the 250 can and does work the wet sand --in the dry sand I'd say 4 to 5 bars are more the norm-- --the ace 250  like most other lower end ( $300 and under) "preset ground balance machines" made by any maker are very touchy to high minerals levels often found on the beaches.

turning down the sensitivity levels a bit until they stabilze often can help most of the lower end "preset ground balance" to be able to be used at least somewhat on the beach

the ace 250 and other "preset machines" while not the "ideal" choice for a full time beach machine --- can often work on the beaches within their limitations.

over all performance wize for its price --I do think the ace 250  is one of the best lower end machines out there.

Hello Hunter .  After they read your post they may be asking for your help, like what coil size do you use and what your sensitivity and discrimination settings are , do you sweep the searchcoil fast or slow ? Some Metal Detectors take longer to master than others . And sometimes it is can be very frustrating Learning a new Machine . I wonder why some Ace 250's have problems and some do not ? Some tips from you may solve some problems here . Thank-You for posting about your good experence with the Ace 250 .
HH.........Eugene

That is interesting.

I am wondering how the 250 will compare
to the Prizm 6t, or the BH Discovery?

How much more depth does your 250 get
than a good PI machine?

Sense you know what your talking about,

Please enlighten us,

Tabdog

Just to be fair here.

If you are going to throw stones..

Just where do I not know what I am talking about?

Are you suggesting that your Ace 250 is better on
the beaches than the tried and true beach machines?

Are suggesting that the Ace 250 is a crummy machine?

If that is what you suggest, it would be in opoposition
to me.

I do not agree with that.

A good beach machine will do better than a dry land
machine on salt beaches. Even better than your 250.

So help us out MR know it all.

What are the answers?

Tabdog
