After looking a little closer- it seems like they might be two different islands. The coordinates are not the same.

It does seem like it could be two different islands.

To me, it looks like the same person drew them though. Sue

Yes, both are the same islands (in my opinion), BUT, in the first map, the person that penned "Reefs" on the map are NOT the same person. I'm not sure of the relevance of this? The handwriting is distinctively different though between those two words.
The first map is also alot more detailed. The second map seems more topographical in it's description of the island, whereas the first map seems to be more bent toward locations on and around that particular island. I believe the second map was *possibly* used as the first map in locating the island. This island obviously was a high traffic area by the description of "Smuggler's Cove" and the various wrecks around the island on the first map.
Therefore, the second map might possibly have been drawn up before the landing on and exploring of the island? I observed this by the description of the "20 Turtles" used on the first map, unless this is a metaphor for something else? Just speculation though, I suppose... Given that these charts are of original origin.
I wish I could see the actual charts or something that's clearer in it's digital format. I'm also curious what the cut off parts of the map (all sides of the maps) can reveal toward the entire understanding and interpretation of them. I noticed on the first map that the word on the right hand side is almost completely cut off and left out of the map. This might be important and may reveal more to the map than meets the eye. Well, I hope this makes sense to more than just myself....

Hi All,
Thanks everyone, you are all.............great!

I saw everything you have, when I first viewed the charts. Everyone, has compared one chart to the other and noted the differences, although I think most would agree, that the charts were probably drawn by the same person.!!
I know that this is not necessarily everyones interest, so I thank you for taking the time to post!

If your still interested, I would like you to take a closer look at the charts individually.!

The chart marked "China Sea", has the words "Reefs", drawn at the bottom left and bottom right, of the main island.

You will notice that these words are written differently to one another!
You may also wonder Why?

If you look very closely, at the word "Reefs" to the bottom left, you may be able to see, that it conceals within it, the words :   "PIECE oF  8"

The i, is connected to the P. the c, is at the top of the first E, followed by a plain E.
The F, has a small o at its' centre, while the S, masquerades as an 8.

Can you see it?

Best wishes, Crowsnest.

Hi Bran,
Well spotted on all your observations, I understand your frustration at not being able to see the whole of the charts, however, the writing that you refer to is only relevant when you find the location of the island.
It contains the directions for finding the cache , once the island has been located.

They were not deliberately masked from any of you, I just took a quick photo of them and uploaded the resultant pics to the post.
There is a lot more to be noted about these charts, before you need to concern yourself with the actual location of the Cache!.
Best wishes Crowsnest.

Hi All,
Sue, thanks for adjusting the view of the Charts.!
As for the rest of the comments, thank you all very much, you have not disappointed me, in fact, so far, you have all come up with what are, the common views of the charts, I note that you compare one chart to the other and you also note an island, surrounded by rocks and reefs etc. on both charts.
You also observe, the similarity between both charts.
This is not a competition or race!, so please take your time and keep posting your views.

Just remember, You have all pointed out differences within the charts!!??

Best Wishes.
Crowsnest.

and??

Is this what you are talking about? There seems to be something else written on 2nd picture, too. Been following this post and find it most interesting. Shadow
