actually it was not  a dig or something. it was just a random smashing of rocks which was protruding from the ground. the protruding part somehow looks like a corner of a box. rumor has it that there are some WW2 treasures in the area, protected by traps and curses. i guess they believe more that it as a curse rather than a trap.. anyway... signs found were engraved on rocks and some were carved-fish, dog, turtle, left hand, and largest of them was a large stone foot. about 20 ft. long and 8 feet high. parts of equipments were also found in the area: plate of a heavy truck tire or something (similar to that of backhoes used this days. not the rubber tire), parts of weapons with ammunition, old tools, and much more..

Berone you are degrading and destroying your markers or point of interest. Before your diggers smash and destroy what is to be an important part of the markers you should study the orientation, and meaning of those rock take a picture and record everything for future reference. Most TH failed to follow these basic instruction because they either are naive or novice TH. Hope you can still trace back everything that was destroyed or you'll be off by several feet to your objective. Even though you have signs and markers it is the skill of your spotter and interpreter in order to succeed.

Here's something for you guys to chew on.
Detector went off while searching a WW2 Japanese camp. Analysis: alloy, depth 60cm.
Hacked thru the asphalt of the old road, dug down and found the object in the attached photos. Seems to be some kind of anchor stone with smooth metal bars running thru it. Anyone else ever found a similar object before?

Whats the history of your site, I can't conclude if the etching shown is a marker if it is there should be some kind of other signs that should stand out in the surrounding area like other stones, trees or something unusual. If non then I conclude that what you found is concrete footing with a metal post. Those kind of footing are similar to the footings on warehouses and sheds.

I came to the same conclusion. It's a footing. Smiley One never knows what will be dug up next!

nana;

It means SCAM!

Aluminum metal, before during and right after WW2, was rare, to non-existant! Aluminum was a PRECIOUS metal, because, at that time, it was hard to make! I remember the foil on tobacco and cigarettes, was a lead compound.... NOW its aluminum.

If you have a rubber pipe with aluminum in it, it is very recent, probably after 1950.... certainly NOT of WW2 Japanese origin, unless it came off a flying saucer?

My thoughts on the matter.

Goldigger, you do realize that Mr Yamashita most likely already dug up his treasure years ago.

GoldDigger1950;

Well, for all I really care about Mr. Yamashita (who was probably executed for war crimes,) he can take a flying leap.... Grin

From where do all these treasures come? The ones found, so far??? I think, maybe, they came from flying saucers... they want to stir up the ant hill and watch the ants scurry. Maybe. Crazy

But then...... May-bees do not fly in July, only in May. Devil

I find some aspects, of the treasure hunt, interesting. Perhaps some of the treasure is much, much older the the Empire of the Rising Sun?? In the big haste to grub treasure, any sensitive material gets destroyed, simply because these guys, no matter their best intentions, are NOT archaeologists. Also, why did the Japanese leave clues in English??

Where else might there be treasure? The P.I. have all the attention, right now. What happened to all Jengis Khans loot? There could be all kinds of it, in eastern Europe, not that I will  ever look.

Jes some pause to thought, or thoughts to pause...
