Del . There are definitely two ships that wrecked close to the inlet . I don't know about a third one . 1)  All the coins that were found were located South of the inlet . 2)  The current in the channel runs South to North .  Taking these two things in consideration I did a test . In a big sandbox I mounted a nozzle that created a nice flow over the sand  . I noticed that coins that were laying flat were raised by the current ( the current running faster over the coin , and being stable under the coin ) . The action was just as the wind over a  airplane wing  . The coins started to tumble and moved with the current . If this happened  at the inlet the coins were moved from the South to the North .  These coins certainly would not move against the current . So I think that there is one ship ( the Archangel ) to the North of the inlet of which the debris trail should be North of the inlet , coming from the North- East , and one wreck to the South-East giving us the source of the coins found todate . A search toward the South East should give us more info on a possible wrecksite . I would look around the 10 fathom line .   Regards  Cornelius

The Jupiter Inlet wreck is not a Mel Fisher admiralty claim. The wreck was found by a Palm Beach county lifeguard named Peter Leo and the admiralty now belongs to 3-4 different people with Scott Thomson (Seahunter), being one of them.

Contrary to what has been reported, a good number of coins have come off this shipwreck. Back in the early 90's they were finding them (about 2000 I think) without the use of any type of excavation equipment. Then the county began dumping tons of sand on the beach as part of a continual renourishment project. That sand eventually washes over the nearshore wrecksite, and most of the wreck is deeply buried. However, more coins have been found using dredges and propwash excavation.

I know in a recent salvage season Scott recovered over 500 coins working a limited number of days. Other business projects have kept him from returning to the site in 2009.

I posted some pertinent information on this net ( about the Jupiter wrecks ) . I was amazed to find this info deleted . Why ? Is there somebody on this net that wanted to suppress this info to become known to all the members ? I do not like this at all .   Cornelius

going to post a new thread --about the san miguel de excelsis --- a renamed english "balandra class " prize vessel -- taken by echeverz * ---this is most likely the vessel spoke of in "the funnel of gold" --where the english capt invoked the name of the english governor of jamacia as being a 25% owner of the vessel in a attempt to avoid it being "taken" --the ploy failed --it was taken anyway --but now the spanish were alerted that the govenor of jamacia (lord hamilton) hands were "dirty" ---  and farther checking by the spanish later on showed he was fiscally backing the "spanish silver camp" raiding english pirates * and giving them safe haven .---hamilton was a scottish faction placed offical --and as such wanted "bonny prince charles of scotland " on the throne of england .--- so he was a "backer" of him --if the english faction took over the throne they would "appoint" a "new man" as govenor of jamacia in due course.--- scotland lost --hamilton was reall as govenor to be tried for treason but after a trail by his "peers" (other lords) was aquitted and married well and lived out the rest of his life in basic peace.--- hamilton was very tight with the scottish loyalist and pirate silver raider henry jennings *--- after royal pardons were issued jennings became a farmer but in 1745 when the 2nd scottish revolt occured --jenning tired of the dull life set sail again --this time around however he was caught by the spanish and killed.

Finally someone is working on the Jupiter site. It is the neat pole barge which can lift itself up over the water.

That barge is the  ,, polly -something ,, . This barge should be used over a known wreck . Since the Jupiter inlet does not have a positive  wreck location ,  the barge is of no use . Unless you want to pick-up some coins and then relocate the barge over some more possible coin finds . Looks not very efficient to me . Just my thoughts though .   Cornelius

Isn't the Polly-L a suction dredge? I kind of saw some pictures a year ago that gave me the impression it was. Or is it a water blower which can blow sand away on the bottom? Good luck out there.
