The polly-l is a stationary platform . It is moved over an existing wreck . It is not meant to search for a wreck . There could be any kind of equipment on this platform . Mailboxes  ( blowers ) and grappling equipment would be of use on this platform .  Magnetometers or side scan sonar would be useless  here . It should be used on shallow wrecks  ( how long are those legs ! ) . So only for cleaning up a certain spot , this platform is useful .  Cornelius

The Polly-L can move under it's own power, so it can use it to search if he wanted to but it is not fast, and you are right that it is not meant for that. I imagine it can be used without the legs down also, but these surely work better than anchors. The 3 legs look to be about 30 feet long. He has a long tube on the boat and it looks like a suction tube which he might run up to the deck and through sluice type boxes. Again, that is what it looked like when I saw a picture of it up close. Art McKee, back years ago, used to use suction tubes under water to remove sand around the wrecks he worked in the Keys.
Looks like Polly-L moved off the location a day ago.

The Polly-L uses a blower to dig. It didnt move off site, it just moved further east. If you are viewing the wrecksite at

Don't expect to get rich!
Read as much as you can such as your doing on the forums, and there are many out there. Lots of knowledgable people from novice to professionals contribute. As far as reading probably "The Treasure Divers Guide" by John Potter. His first edition signed if you ever get your hands on it would be nice! No mine is not for sale. "Pieces Of Eight" by Kip Wagner. "Treasures of the Spanish Main" by John Fine, he has many others. "Galleon Alley" by Bob "Frogfoot" Weller my dear friend passed over the bar last year he had many books as well. "The Dreamweaver" by Bob Weller the story of Mel Fisher and his quest for the Treasure of the Spanish Galleon ATOCHE would be a good start. I tend to be more partial to Wellers writtings for he was not only a great friend but was my mentor. "Floridas Golden Galleons" by Burgess & Clausen.  "The Search for the Atocha" by Dr Eugene Lyon. There are many many more excellent authors out there.

If not certified in Scuba then get certified. Talk with fellow divers , make friends , invest (never invest unless you get to dive) Most salvage operations here in Florida work just that way. The "GoldHound' salvage vessel will let a certified diver go out for a day of treasure diving for around 300 bucks. The only way you are going to learn is by doing. Trust me there is a lot to learn and do! You will always blow more empty holes than holes that have goodies.

My personal preferance on underwater detectors are #1 Aqua Pulse around $2500.00  #2 Excalibur (with some modifacations) around $1200.00 they have never let me down.

Ahh Thanks, that is the silvery looking long tube I seen. How many divers does he usually use?
