Ya'll rock!! Some great advice here and its fantastic and helpful to hear from others. You guys are right though... it does get alot easier etc over time. I'm still a night hunter and think I pretty much always will be. I enjoy it at night, helps me wind down from a busy day. But, it certainly does get easier, the more you do it... you really do start to not feel like you are being stared at.

Again, thanks for all the replies! It does help... especially the new folks... like I was/am. Wink

Hi in the uk its often illegal to detect parks,so most of the land we detect on is private farm land that you need permission to use,so a lot of the time you can go all day and not see a soul.If theres a public footpath on the property you may see the odd walker,i usually try and talk to them ,they may own some land that i could detect on.It can be difficult over here to get permission to detect,i think mainly caused by qquite a large anti detecting lobby archeologists etc.Digging tools i short light weight spade and a 2inch wood chissel for harder ground.Best wishes corbett.

I'm still a little bit shy myself. I try to hit parks and public places early in the morning, when fewer people are around. I just can't bring myself to detect in a crowded park.

Nobody comes near me, don't know why. One time some teenagers made a comment from across the river. Can't remember what I said back ( something like I will put you in the ground) but they went quite after that.
