Go Up Go Down

Hi everyone,

Hardluck

I have been researching this legend for quite some time, one thing always remained in the back of my mind - as i'm about to explain.

Fact - Captain Kidd was a real pirate.
Fact - He looted ships, stole various treasure, he also buried some treasure.
Fact - Captain Kidd charts were found.

Fact - everyone believes them to be fake.

Now! here i am going to throw another another puzzle into the equation....

What if to say, that Kidd while looting ships and what ever else, stole the charts and could never figure them out?

why i say this you might ask! well while looking over some very old charts, i came across a chart (Verified) dated 1627. This chart caught my attention, it was a spanish chart, the main center of the chart was a map of the world surrounded with 28 small maps of islands.

This is what caught my attention when i viewed the chart - Kidd Island was on the chart - very interesting don't you think.

On the reverse of this chart are 30 quatrain type boxes, each written in Latin/Spanish.

I just thought i would throw this into the mysterious puzzle.

regards

CS

Hello Csharp

Well done with your discovery of an old Spanish chart date 1627. All charts of that age are interesting to me.

But  a verified chart dated 1627 with an island the same shape as the one portrayed in the Harold T Wilkins Kidd Palmer charts which are clearly 20th century forgeries is irrelevant. I can show you a host of islands that are almost a perfect match. It has been the same path time and time again researchers have followed.  Trying to match a real island or a historical Island to an imaginary islands created by Harold Wilkins and Kidd Palmer is and has shown itself time and time again historically unproductive.

When Kidd now realizing he was going to be a scape goat to avoid scandal among the British nobility, he was desperate to save his skin. His only card left to play is that he claimed he had treasure still in the "Indies"

There was a slight possibility that Kidd may of met Davis and alluded to treasure that he knew about. But the fact of the matter even with Davis a large amount of pirates who served under him for a long time was not because of loyalty but because he shared money with them.

We know Kidd still had his ship there with some of the remaining crew waiting for him. But his crew there out of disloyalty or common sense already realized that Kidd was not going to sweet talk himself out of trouble. They burned boat and made off with the remaining treasure. You can see that in the links to Transcripts of the investigation already posted previously on this topic. It is quite clear quite a few people profited from the remaining treasure around the west Indies.

And that my friend is plane and simple.

The Captain Kidd legend is and always will be an interesting story but it will always lure the unwary into life time of chasing shadows.

When it comes to research I think we all have flogged a dead horse one time or another. The trick is get over it and move on.
There are much more interesting treasure legends to research, some will turn out to be nothing but a legend and others might lead to some thing more interesting.

The worlds is your oyster.

Hardluck

"Fact - Captain Kidd was a real pirate.
Fact - He looted ships, stole various treasure, he also buried some treasure.
Fact - Captain Kidd charts were found."

1: No he wasn't... he was a "privateer" acting under a government licence.

2: Yes, well documented.

3: No..... Poorly concocted phoney charts were found.

As Hardluck said... Interesting Story... that's all.

hi

Hardluck,

I might have assumed when i posted my discovery, the Island 'it seems' is very identical to Kidd's Island.

The most interesting thing about this chart is the Latin/Spanish Translation of the Islands and the treasure that 'might' be on them.

Kidd will always be on my mind, it might be a decision i may regret, but wasting time may tell!!!! < i believe you know what i'm saying here. >

I know your investigative knowledge, and i have told you of my find in recent times. I need to follow my thoughts on what i have found.

regards

CS.

Hi CS,
Well... best of luck to you, if it's something you can do without spending too much cash or too much time (these things have a real tendency to get under your skin!).
Let me know if you need anything looking up from this end (British Library, Museum etc).

Hello all.
Does anyone of you know a good description of Kidds execution? I'm interested in his speach that he held, and i have still something in my memory that he spreat papers with hints to spectaters at Execution Dock. How was it possibel, that he was spoken to the spectators and even spread papers? This was not usual, was it?

I know that my english is not the best, so i just can hope you understand what i asked javascript:void(0);

Hello Publius Enigma

It is good and interesting question.

As far as I an aware there was no documents thrown by Kidd from the scaffold at his execution.

You might find an account of his execution in the British admiralty at Greenwich.

The only pirate I can think of who tosses papers in to the crowd was Olivier Levasseur  "The Buzzard" who was hanged at Saint-Denis, R?union at 5 p.m. on 7 July 1730.

csharp may be in a better position to answer that question.

Hardluck

Hello Tony69

Your comments have been unproductive and tiresome. You have consistently refused to answer questions put to you. And you have been shown that to have no credibility time and time again.

Here is your chance..If you are so sure there is a real chart by Captain Kidd.

Then post a picture of it. If you do not want to give the full image of the map. Give us part of it proving it belonged to Kidd.

Put your money where your mouth is.

Hardluck
