Hello Seanengman

Just when you thought it was safe........ Grin

The history of the legend is a interesting topic and you can see how explosive conflicting opinions can become as it arouses passions. Most researchers have became too involved in those charts and 20 century writers for various reasons.

Tony It can be some times a hard miserable road researching treasure legends, they can seduce you and when you don't expect it they bite you. I have had more than my fair share of being bitten.

Perhaps if you are so inclined to look further into Jamaica and west Indies colonial state papers July 1699.

890. XVIII. Copy of the Journal of Capt. Carey, on his voyage in the Antonio to several islands in quest of Bolton, Burk, and Kidd's plunder. Boston, Oct. 26 1699, 3 pp. Same endorsement.

Dec. 18.1,066. Memorandum of letter from Mr. Yard to the Council of Trade and Plantations signifying that an instruction has been given by His Majesty to Col. Codrington about Kidd's plunder at St. Thomas's. Endorsed, Recd. Read Dec. 20, 1699. ? p. [Board of Trade. Leeward Islands, 6. No. 49.]

Dec. 18.
Whitehall.1,065. R. Yard to Mr. Popple, enclosing His Majesty's letter to Sir William Beeston about seizing Kidd's plunder at Cura?oa. Signed, R. Yard. Endorsed, Recd. Read Dec. 20, 1699. [Board of Trade. Jamaica, 9. No. 3; and 56. p. 412.]

These documents may be of some interest.

Still waiting for the photo of the pass..... and all the other unanswered.... Devil

Just for fun.......

See what happens........

Hmm...... did someone have a copy of "Treasure Island" to hand when they drew the "Maps"?

Take 1 "Kidd" chart, 1 illustration from the original "Treasure Island", mix about a bit with paintshop.
Look how nearly some of the contours match.

Now consider you are an "Antiques Dealer" - and one who "Sails pretty close to the wind" in the late 1920's.
You want to phoney up some "Treasure" maps so what's your best choice of reference?
Ooooh ...... a copy of R.L. Stevensons tome.
Antique paper, legal documents all easy to come by (you are an antiques dealer - right?)
Ink?....... no problem... just spirit and soot.
A quick look, bit of freehand jiggery pokery and....... voila!......job done!
Only problem is... you C**k it all up by hiding them in mid 18th century furniture.... (as verified by the Victoria and Albert museum and various top PROPER antique dealers!

rofl!

Well said Seanengman;little surprised you didn't add the statements by Captain Evertse or John Yeamans, Lt.Gov'n of Antigua as well though..... On the other hand we could always look to see what Launcelot Dove was claiming..unbelievable?

Paul, whatever it's origins, this is no freehand "jiggery pokery"; rather a construct that uses a clever trick and a little trigonometry to hide it's true form. Try ignoring the wording and looking at it again just as a puzzle. If you crack it, it will take you to within a relatively few nautical miles of a small island of an almost identical shape with the right north-south orientation. Freehand coincidence....sorry can't agree with you on that.

I spoke too soon.Sorry, sorry, is hard for me in my old age to forget I?m talking to novices oh   what did I find nothing (THAT?S NOTHING US EXPERTS DID NOT ALLREADY KNOW) simple. There are experts who think the charts are fake and experts who think the charts are real, we will differ as to the charts, (but do not differ as to what he did or were he went because it is well documented, and until someone comes back with (treasure) the charts will remain a mystery, simple (I will egg on my face and the one who think the charts are fake will have the last laugh) (fact) simple got it. In order for me to prove the charts are not fake then I must come up with some good evidence simple, (ops have I spoke to soon) seeing Palmer had never at any time said he faked the charts, and the fact that one of the charts was wrote on the back of a legal document that belonged to his wife, all these facts I can prove beyond any bout. Excuse me will I laugh, ops where was I oh yes   At this point we can assume that the charts, could be real, only assume and  (not to find any treasure) only assume. We must find a way if anyhow they could work, simple. Next.

Tony you keep calling yourself an expert yet all you have add to this thread is a bunch of name dropping and arrogant remarks. You have been asked several questions but have sidestepped them with no answer, you don't know the correct name to places that you got the information you miss spell names time after time you want people to think you know something when in fact you are an internet researcher trying to hook a sucker. Your first post asked for money, there are 100's of people who make their living bankrolling treasure hunts why come to the internet for backers? Maybe because you don't have anything?
I call BS you are a con man prove me wrong.
